〈삼몽기〉의 서사구조에 기초한 스토리텔링에서의 유의점 연구

국문 초록

당(唐) 초기의 소설은 기본적으로 육조(六朝) 지괴소설(志怪小說)의 전통을 이어받았다고 할 수 있다. 특히 중당기(中唐期)에 들어와서 많은 작품이 생산되어 전기(傳奇)소설의 독자적 경지를 이룩하였다. 초현실적이요 비인간적이며 비과학적인 몽환의 세계, 신선의 세계, 천상의 세계, 명부(冥府)의 세계, 용궁의 세계 등을 표현한 전기소설은 시민계층의 환영을 받고 있었다. 이 연구는 <삼몽기>에 담긴 세 가지의 꿈의 서사구조와 스토리텔링 작품인 소설과 영화가 유사한 서사구조를 지니고 있음을 밝히고자 한다. 또한 꿈에 관한 융(Jung)학파의 견해를 중심으로 스토리텔링에 있어서 유의점을 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 위해 <삼몽기>의 서사구조를 기초로 한 세 편의 스토리텔링 작품, 근대소설 《꿈의 노벨레》, 영화 《이프 온리》와 《우리는 같은 꿈을 꾼다》에서 스토리텔링 창작에 있어 유의할 점을 지적한다면 다음과 같다. <삼몽기>의 첫째 꿈 이야기는 남편의 현실에서의 체험이 아내의 꿈과 맞닿아 있다는 점에서 오스트리아의 소설 《꿈의 노벨레》의 서사구조와 연결되어 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이 작품에서는 프리돌린이 의사로서의 사회적 페르소나에만 도취되어 있는 인물이라는 묘사가 다소 미흡하여 추후 그의 방황과 아내 알베르티네가 소외되어 있었던 설정을 독자에게 충분히 인지시키지 못했음을 지적했다. <삼몽기>의 둘째 꿈 이야기는 한 사람의 현실을 다른 한 사람이 꿈에서 그대로 보았다는 점에서 영화 《이프 온리》와 닮아있다. 이 영화에서는 이안이 자신의 직장에서의 책임이라는 또 다른 페르소나에 몰두한 나머지 자신의 연인을 제대로 사랑하지 못했고, 그것을 깨달아 후회하게 됐지만, 연인 사만다를 대신해 죽음을 맞게 된다. 이는 관객들에게 감동을 줄 수는 있지만, 다른 한편으로 꿈을 꿈으로써 자신을 돌아보고 자기실현에 도움을 받을 수 있다는 융학파의 이론에 근거하여, 이안이 부상을 입기는 하지만 죽지는 않고 살아남아 자신을 다시 돌아보며 사만다와 함께 행복하면서도 자기 자신에게도 충실한 삶을 추구하는 모습을 보여주는 결말을 제안했다. <삼몽기>의 셋째 꿈 이야기는 두 사람이 짧은 만남을 갖게 되는데, 두 사람이 이미 전날 이 만남에 관한 같은 꿈을 꿨다는 것이다. 이와 비슷한 구조를 지닌 영화 《우리는 같은 꿈을 꾼다》에서는 엔드레와 마리어 두 사람이 꿈에서 사슴이 되어 서로 다정했던 것처럼 서로를 알아가고 사랑하기 위해 더 애썼어야 하는데 그러질 못했다. 이들이 서로에게 다가가지 못하는 과도한 내향성을 지닌 인물이라는 점을 관객들에게 충분히 인식시키기 위해, 이 두 사람이 각자의 꿈속에서 사슴으로 나오는 장면들을 통해 이들 사슴이 다른 사슴들과 잘 어울리지 못하고 혼자 외로이 지내는 사슴이라는 점을 보여줌으로써 이들의 내향적인 성격을 미리 제시하는 것도 바람직했을 것이다.

영문 초록

It can be said that novels in the early Tang period basically inherited the tradition of six dynasties’ ghost novels. In particular, many works were produced in the middle of the Tang Dynasty, achieving an independent level of biographical novels. Biographical novels expressing surreal, inhumane, and unscientific dream worlds, the divine world, the heavenly world, the world of the list, and the world of the dragon palace were welcomed by the citizens. This study aims to reveal that the three dream narrative structures contained in and the storytelling works, novels and movies, have similar narrative structures. In addition, focusing on the theory of the Jung school, I would like to examine the points to be noted in storytelling based on the three dream narrative structures of . To this end, the narrative structure of , three storytelling works, the modern novel 《Novellé of Dreams》, the films 《If Only》 and 《On Body and Soul》 are summarized as follows. The first dream of is characterized by A’s experience in reality affecting B’s dream. The reality of A and the time and space of B’s dreams are ‘overlapped’. The second dream is characterized by A’s experience in reality that B, who is in another place, foresaw it in a dream as if he had seen it with his eyes. B revealed the ‘simultaneity’ phenomenon of seeing A in a dream beyond real space. If Only has a prophetic dream of seeing the future as a dream, but it shows the position that the future is not determined as seen in the dream, and it can affect the future according to the will. The third dream is different from the above two stories in that both A and B dreamed, and moreover, it is unique that A and B dreamed the same dream. Time and space in A and B’s dreams are in line with meaning in reality and serve as implications and predictions. As a result, it can be confirmed that the dream narrative of basically has a narrative structure similar to three storytelling, one novel, and two movies. It can be seen that dreams are truly the manifestation of the collective unconsciousness that mankind has in common, and have a kind of ‘archetype’. It can be said that novels in the early Tang period basically inherited the tradition of Six Dynasties’ strange novels. In particular, many works were produced in the middle of the period, achieving the independent state of biographical novels. Biographical novels depicting the surreal, inhuman and unscientific world of dream, the world of novelty, the world of heaven, the world of masterpieces, and the world of dragon palaces were welcomed by the civic class. This study aims to reveal that the three dream narrative structures contained in and the storytelling works, novels and movies, have similar narrative structures. In addition, I would like to examine the points of significance in storytelling, focusing on the views of the Jung school on dreams. To this end, three storytelling works based on the narrative structure of , modern novels 《Novellé of Dreams》, movies 《If Only》 and 《On Body and Soul》 point out the following points to be noted in storytelling creation. The first dream story of was confirmed to be connected to the narrative structure of the Austrian novel 《Novellé of Dreams》 in that the husband’s experience in reality is in contact with his wife’s dream. In this work, it was pointed out that the norms of the marriage system forced them to seal erotic impulses and social responsibilities in terms of consciousness, and that the portrayal of Friedolin as a doctor was somewhat insufficient to fully recognize his wandering and his wife Albertine’s alienation. The second dream story of resembles the movie 《If Only》 in that the reality of one person was seen in the dream by the other.
