劉基의 ｢感時述事十首｣에 보이는 사회비판의식 고찰

국문 초록

劉基(1311∼1375)는 원말명초의 정치가, 군사가, 사상가이자 문학가다. 유기는 원과 명의 두 왕조가 교체되는 시기를 살면서 그의 삶과 문학 역시 그 영향을 깊이 받았다. 유기는 1300여수의 시를 남겼으며, 그의 시는 대체로 주원장에게 초빙된 다음해인 1360년(元 至正 20년)을 기점으로 전후기로 나눌 수 있다. 전기시의 경우 사회비판과 풍유, 교화를 중시했다면 후기에 창작한 시는 개인감정에 대한 묘사가 주를 이루는 경향을 보인다. 「感時述事十首」는 유기가 48세였던 1358년에 창작한 연작시로 사회현실에 대해 관심을 가졌던 전기시의 주요 경향을 잘 보여준다. 元 왕조 치하에서 삶의 대부분을 살았던 유기는 원말의 혼란한 상황과 백성들이 겪은 고통을 목도하고 이를 「感時述事十首」에 생생하게 담았다. 유기는 「感時述事十首」에서 원말의 관리부패, 군대적폐, 황제무능, 화폐남발 등의 여러 사회폐단에 대해 비판하고, 이런 폐단으로 인해 고통받는 백성들의 삶에 마음 아파했다. 이는 宋詩의 ‘의론으로써 시를 쓰는(以議論爲詩)’전통을 계승한 것이라 할 수 있으며, 동시에 유기 자신이 가지고 있었던 문학은 세상에 쓰임이 있어야 한다는 經世致用의 유가적 문학관점의 발로라 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

Liu Ji(1311∼1375) is a politician, military expert, thinker, and writer in the end of the Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of the Ming Dynasty. Liu Ji lived in the period when the Yuan Dynasty was changed to the Ming Dynasty, so his life and literature were also deeply influenced by it. Liu Ji left about 1,300 poems, and most of his poems could be divided into the former and latter periods on the basis of 1360(20th year of Zhizheng), the next year when he was invited by Zhu Yuanzhang. His poems in the former period regarded the social criticism, allegory, and edification as important while his poems in the latter period tended to mainly show the description of personal emotions. As a set of poems created in 1358 when Liu Ji was 48 years old, 「Ganshishushishishou」 fully shows the main tendency of his poems in the former period when he paid attention to the reality of society. Liu Ji who spent most of his life under the Yuan Dynasty witnessed the people’s pains and chaotic situations in the end of the Yuan Dynasty, and then vividly contained them in 「Ganshishushishishou(感時述事十首)」. In 「Ganshishushishishou」, Liu Ji criticized many social evils such as corrupt government officials, military deep-rooted evils, incompetent emperor, and overissue of money during the years of Zhizheng in the end of the Yuan Dynasty, and also fully showed the people’s lives suffering from such evils. This was not only to inherit the tradition of ‘taking discussion as poetry’ of Song poetry, but also to express his own Confucian literary perspective on practical use of literature in the world.
