영문 초록

For centuries folklore has found its home in our conscience. These stories are inherited to us through generations yet tangled with various interpretations from present reality. Based on above understanding of folklores I attempt to interpret longings and desires embodied in these stories to understand the minds of Russians. To achieve this I have introduced two methods of interpretation. First method is structural analysis--using unchanging variable. Second method is psychological analysis--using Selbstverwirklichung introduced by Freud and Jung. By applying these two methods, I have discovered embodiment of self-fulfillment in minds of Russians. Main importances were placed in characteristics such as these: kindness, humbleness, wisdom, courage, diligence, and perseverance throughout its culture. These may be prevailing characteristics in any human conscience, however, Russian folklore in particular exhibits these traits with frequency and extent. Thus this can also be interpreted as what distinguishes Russian folklore from the rest. Furthermore, introducing both analytical methodology used to draw visible traits in conclusion is also an achievement on its own.
