국문 초록

본고는 한국전쟁 이후부터 오늘날까지 포로수용소를 다룬 영화에 대해 짚어보며, 2000년대 이후 탈냉전시기의 한국영화가 전쟁과 반공, 그리고 냉전 구도를 사유하는 방식이 과거와 어떻게 차별화되는지 논의한다. ‘한국형 블록버스터’ <흑수선>(2001)과 <스윙키즈>(2018)의 경우, 제작 시기는 다르지만 한국전쟁 당시를 배경으로 하고 있으며, 현재와 과거를 오가며 수용소 안에서 벌어지는 이념의 투쟁 양상을 전경화한다는 점에서 공통분모를 갖는다. 2000년대 이전까지 포로수용소를 배경으로 한 영화는 당국의 정책적 방향과 밀접한 관련성을 지니고 있었으며, 국방부로부터의 협조와 후원을 받았다. 반면 <흑수선>은 이념의 문제 대신 멜로와 미스터리를 전경화하고, <스윙키즈>는 휴먼코미디를 표방하며 수용소 내에서 빚어지는 다양한 갈등을 소재로 삼는다. 대중성을 강화한 두 영화는 포로수용소 내 스펙터클을 강화하면서 장르의 혼종을 도모하고, 상대적으로 이념 문제로부터 자유롭다는 점에서 주목할 만하다. 그러나 스크린으로 옮겨진 1952년 포로수용소 내의 열전(熱戰)은 지금 현재의 관객에게 큰 감흥을 주지 못하며 흥행에 실패했다. 그렇다면 탈냉전시대 포로수용소 영화의 대중적 실패가 시사하는 바는 무엇인가. 본고는 포로수용소 영화의 계보를 살피며 이상의 문제를 규명하고자 한다.

영문 초록

This paper analyzes Korean movies that have addressed “POW Camp” up to this day since the Korean War, and discusses about how the Korean film during the post-cold war period is differentiated a method of thinking the war, the anti-communism and the cold-war structure from the past. The Last Witness(黑繡扇)(2001) and Swing Kids(2018) of corresponding to ‘Korean-style’ blockbuster are different in the period of production, but are being set at the time of the Korean war. There is a common denominator with regard to foregrounding the ideological struggle that takes place in a camp with going back and forth between the present and the past. A movie based on POW camp until before the 2000s had possessed a close relationship with the national policy of the authorities and was cooperated and sponsored by the Ministry of National Defense. On the other hand, The Last Witness foregrounds melodrama and mystery instead of the ideology matter. Swing Kids has a material as various conflicts arising within a camp with standing for the human comedy. Two movies, which strengthened popularity, are enough to be noted in terms of stepping up spectacle within POW camp, of promoting hybrid in genre and of freeing from the ideology issue. Nevertheless, a fierce fight(熱戰) within a camp in 1952, which was moved to the screen, ended in a box office failure while not giving an impression to the current audience very much. If so, what is an implication of a public failure in the movies of POW camp in the post-cold war period? This article aims to examine the genealogy of the prison-camp films and to find out the problem which mentioned above.
