국문 초록

이 글의 목적은 1977년 박태순이 발표한 두 장편 소설을, 주체적 지식의 가능성을 탐문하는 작업으로 의미화하는 것이다. 이를 통해 당대 민중 담론을 초과하는 박태순의 인식론적 지평을 확인해보고자 했다. 박태순의 소설이 다루고 있는 전쟁과 해방은 비단 과거로만 존재하는 것이 아니라, 현재를 주체적으로 의미화하는 통로가 된다. 전쟁과 해방을 주체적으로 의미화하고자 하는 작업은 한반도의 역사, 나아가 한반도의 지식의 주체적 가능성을 탐문하는 것이었다. 『어느 사학도의 젊은 시절』의 세 소년이 수기, 서구의 역사와 이론, 한국의 전통 등을 읽고 토론하는 장면은 주체적인 이론의 맹아를 보여준다. 이들의 지식은 하나의 완성태로 존재하는 것이 아니라, 끊임없이 읽고 회의하여 발전하는 유동적 지식이다. 나아가 이러한 토론의 결과로 소설의 주인공은 출판업이라는 지식인의 소명을 발견한다. 책을 통해 지식의 가능성이 현시되고, 소설 속 인물은 책의 관계와 차이를 발견할 수 있는 지식의 주체로 거듭난다. 박태순은 소설을 통해 한반도의 주체적 지식의 가능성을 실험하고자 했으며, 이에 대한 낙관적 전망을 드러낸다. 『어느 사학도의 젊은 시절』에서 부조된 한반도의 경험과 한반도의 지식은 원점의 시간에서 세계를 이해하기 위해 부단히 노력했던, 그리하여 미래의 가능성과 스치듯 조우할 수 있었던 ‘생성’의 시간들이었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this article is to make the two feature novels published by Park Tae-soon in 1977 meaningful as a work to explore the possibility of subjective knowledge. Through this, we tried to confirm Park Tae-soon’s epistemological horizon, including public discourse of the time. Park Tae-soon’s war and liberation, which the novel deals with, do not only exist in the past, but also become a channel for independently meaning the present. The work to independently make war and liberation meaningful was to explore the history of the Korean Peninsula, and furthermore, the possibility of knowledge on the Korean Peninsula. The three boys of the Youth of a history student(1980) read and discuss handwriting, Western history and theory, and Korean traditions, showing the germination of Korean knowledge and subjective theory. Their knowledge does not exist as a complete form, but shows the appearance of fluid knowledge that constantly reads, skepticizes, and develops. Furthermore, as a result of this discussion, the protagonist of the novel finds the intellectual calling of the publishing industry. The character in the novel reveals the possibility of knowledge through books, and furthermore, he is reborn as the subject of knowledge that can discover the relationship and differences of books. Park Tae-soon tried to experiment with the possibility of independent knowledge on the Korean Peninsula through novels, and reveals an optimistic outlook for this. The experience of the Korean, and furthermore, the knowledge of the Korean, which was assisted in this novel, was a time of “creation” that was constantly striving to understand the world in the time of origin and thus encountered with future possibilities.
