『고려풍속』과 『고려기』

국문 초록

본고의 목적은 裵矩의 『高麗風俗』과 『翰苑』에 인용된 陳大德의 『高麗記』를 비교ㆍ검토해 수ㆍ당의 고구려 탐방과 그 역사적 의미를 생각해 보는 데 있다. 『고려풍속』과 『고려기』모두 전문은 전하지 않는다. 다만 찬자의 활동을 살필 수 있고, 逸文과 전후 시기의 사서를 비교ㆍ검토할 수 있다. 본고에서는 이를 통해 저술 배경과 내용을 가늠해 보고자 하였다. 『고려풍속』과 『고려기』에는 지리를 비롯한 군사정보가 담겨져 있었는데, 각각 隋 煬帝와 唐 太宗의 고구려 공격이란 황제의 의중에 부응하기 위한 것이었다. 두 책은 漢代의 영역과 대외정책을 염두에 두고, 고구려의 지리와 역사를 바라보았다. 고구려 지역이 漢의 郡縣이었다는 사실을 강조해 전쟁의 명분을 제공한 것이다. 『고려기』는 『고려풍속』보다 한층 확대된 정보와 지식을 담고 있다. 『고려풍속』이 간접적인 탐방 자료에 기초하였다면, 『고려기』는 직접적인 탐방 자료로서 견문의 폭이 넓었던 데서 비롯하였다. 수가 고구려 지역에서 전개될 실전을 경시하였다면, 당은 수의 실패를 경계하였기에 교통과 지리정보 수집에 더욱 진력하였던 것이다. 7세기 전쟁이 추동한 정보 및 지식의 발달이었다.

영문 초록

This article aims at comparing Goryeopungsok(高麗風俗) by Bae Gu(裴矩, Pei Ju) and Goryeogi(高麗記) by Jin Daedeok(陳大德, Chen Dade) cited in Hanwon(翰苑) and considering Sui and Tang’s Exploration of Goguryeo and its historical significance. The entire text of both Goryeopungsok and Goryeogi is lost to history. However, the activities of the authors can be examined, and the remaining part of text can be compared with and reviewed through historical books from the same period. This article tries to estimate the basic background of writing and contentthrough the comparison and review. The various records of customs, such as Goryeopungsok, Goryeogi, and Seoyeokdogi(西域圖記), contained military information including geography, and it was written in response to Emperor Yang of Sui(隋煬帝) and Emperor Taizong of Tang(唐太宗) s will of the attack on Goguryeo respectively. The two books grasped the history and geography of Goguryeo, considering the foreign policy of the Han dynasty, especially during the reign of Emperor Wu(武帝). It provided a justification for the war by emphasizing the fact that Goguryeo region was one of counties and prefectures of Han dynasty. Goryeogi contained comprehensive information and knowledge than Goryeopungsok. This was the result of the expansion of information and knowledge during the first half of the 7th century. While Goryeopungsok is based on indirect exploration data, Goryeogi is a direct exploration data which comes from a wide range of experiences. Sui neglected the actual battle that would take place in the Goguryeo region, and Tang was conscious of Sui s failure, therefore more effort was placed on transportation and geographic information collection. In summary, it was the development of information and knowledge that was driven by the seven 7th century war.
