도산서원 ‘濯纓潭’의 詩的 형상화 양상과 의미

국문 초록

도산서원이 영남학파의 학문적 중심지로서 조선 성리학의 상징이라면 도산의 낙천은 퇴계학의 학문 전승과 풍류의 공간으로서 조선 사대부들의 지향과 이상이 투영된 곳이다. 특히 도산서당은 퇴계가 이곳에서 학문을 체계적으로 연구하고 제자를 양성함으로써 당대에 이미 주자학의 본산으로서의 의미를 지니게 되었다. 조선후기 후학들의 도산구곡 설정과 경영도 퇴계학의 학문전승과 지역문화 향유의 대안으로서 새로운 의미를 형성해보려는 시도에서 비롯되었다. 도산구곡의 제5곡인 ‘탁영담’은 여러 가지 측면에서 특별한 의미를 갖는다. 퇴계는 도산서당을 짓고 나서 이른바 ‘烟林二十六處’를 설정했는데 탁영담은 그 중 하나로 ｢어부사｣의 ‘홀로 깸’을 상기하는 곳으로서 그의 은거추구의 희열이 드러난다. 또한 ‘탁영담’ 가에는 ‘천연대’･‘천광운영대’가 자리 잡고 있어 퇴계의 旨趣가 은미하게 살아 있는 곳이기도 하다. 본고는 퇴계의 ｢도산잡영｣에 수록된 <탁영담>시를 이해하고, 이를 토대로 ｢도산구곡｣의 제5곡을 노래한 12수의 작품을 분석하여, 그것이 지닌 주제적 의미를 중심으로 시적 의취와 양상을 탐색하였다. 시에 드러난 후학들의 주류적 양상과 의미는 퇴계의 <탁영담>시상을 차용하거나 점화하여 기본적으로 퇴계에 대한 존현의식을 형상화했다. 퇴계의 출처관과 관련되어서는 그의 은거생활에 대해 동경을 표시하고, 학문 수양과 후학 양성에 대해서는 존경과 사모의 마음을 부쳤다. 그리고 궁극적으로는 이러한 심상 위에서 도심의 추구를 통하여 각자의 이상을 구현하고자 하였다. 이들 시에 관류하는 의식은 존현과 학문계승으로 요약된다. 그러나 제한된 자료만으로 주제적 분석을 통해 작품의 층위와 성격을 온전히 파악하는 데는 한계가 적지 않다. 이에 대해서는 탁영담을 제재로 한 모든 작품을 분석 대상으로 삼아야 하겠기에 추후의 과제로 남겨 둔다.

영문 초록

If Dosanseowon is the academic center of the Yeongnam school and is the hall of Joseon Neo-Confucianism, Dosangugok is a space of academic transmission and style of Toegyehak, where the aspirations and ideals of the Joseon scholars are reflected. In his later years, Toegye systematically studied science and nurtured disciples at Dosan Seodang. Therefore, this place has a meaning as the headquarters of Joseon Neo-Confucianism. The establishment and management of Dosan Gugok also stemmed from an attempt to form a new meaning within the Toegye School as an alternative to academic transmission and enjoyment of local culture. Takyeongdam, formed in Nakcheon(洛川), which flows in front of Dosanseowon, has a special meaning in many ways. This is because Dosanseowon is located in this district, but above all, it is because it is the place where Toegye s systematic academic pursuits reside, and the space where his ideals stand. After building Dosanseodang, Toegye established the so-called 烟林二十六處 , and Takyoungdam is one of them. It is a space where bliss is revealed. Also, in ‘Takyeongdam’, ‘Bantaseok’, named by Toegye, is in the water and represents the spirit of a strong landowner who is not shaken by worldly interests. Toegye also clearly revealed his sense of origin by projecting the boundaries of water bathing on the banta stone. In addition, ‘Cheonyeondae’ and ‘Cheongwangundae’, one of the core spaces of Dosanseodang, are located along Takyeongdam. Therefore, ‘Takyeongdamgok’, the fifth song of Dosangugok, is ‘the very place’ where Toegye realized his ideal, and it is the academic origin of the Toegye School for later students. This paper examines the contents of the poem that sang ‘Takyeongdam’ of Dosanseowon, and examines one aspect of the literary image of Dosanseowon. In a concrete way, we understand the poem of Takyeongdam in Toegye’s ｢Dosanjapyeong｣, and based on this, we analyzed the 12 works that sang the 5th song of ｢Dosangugok｣, focusing on the thematic meaning of it Odor and patterns were explored. The main composition and semantic aspects revealed in the poem borrowed or ignited Toegye s poem, and basically embodies the consciousness of respect for Toegye. In relation to Toegye s source, he expressed admiration for his secluded life, and showed respect and admiration for his academic training and nurturing of juniors. And ultimately, they tried to realize their ideals through the pursuit of science based on this image. The consciousness that permeates these poems can be summarized as existence and academic succession. However, there are many limitations to fully grasping the layers and characteristics of a work through thematic analysis using only limited data. Above all, it is skeptical of whether a single work can be specified as a single theme and whether the theme consciousness and the artist s thoughts are consistent as revealed in the poem. In order to solve all these problems, all works that have Takyoungdam as a sanction must be analyzed, so it is left as a future task.
