하나님의 형상 개념에서 본 4차 산업 혁명의 도전과 기독교 신학의 과제

국문 초록

4차 산업 혁명이 신학적 관심사가 되는 이유는 혁신 기술이 인간의 본성과 정체성을 변화시키고, 나아가 현생 인류인 호모 사피엔스를 호모데우스로 업그레이드하고 있기 때문이다. 인간이 하나님의 형상으로 창조되었다는 신학적 대명제는 인간과 하나님에 대한 중요한 진리를 포함하고 있다. 이 연구는 이 신학적 대명제 속에 나타난 신학적이고 윤리적인 의미를 탐색함으로써 4차 산업 혁명기에 대응할 교회의 역할과 책임이 무엇인지 제시하고자 한다. 이 연구는 4차 산업 혁명 혁신 기술의 도전에 응답하기 위해 하나님의 형상으로서 인간이란 대명제가 지닌 신학적 의미와 윤리적 과제를 다음 다섯 가지 관점에서 정리하였다. 첫째, 인간은 유한성과 의존성을 지닌 피조물이며, 기술 혁신 속에 표출되는 인간의 창조성조차 ‘창조된’ 공동 창조자를 의미할 뿐이다. 둘째, 인간은 전인적 존재로서 인간의 신체성만 강조하여 수명 연장을 영생으로 간주하는 인간 향상 기술이나, 인간의 신체성을 포기하고 정신적 불사만을 추구하는 인공지능의 왜곡된 인간 이해를 비판할 수 있는 준거다. 셋째, 인간은 공동체적 존재로서 하나님과 이웃 그리고 자연 세계와 조화를 이루며 살아야 할 존재임을 알려준다. 넷째, 인간은 하나님처럼 존엄한 존재로서 자유와 평등한 권리를 지니며, 어떤 경우에도 수단화되어선 안 된다. 마지막으로 인간은 일반 은총 가운데 하나인 기술을 활용하여 창조 세계를 돌보고 다스리라는하나님의 문화 위임을 수행해야 할 책임을 지닌 청지기이다.

영문 초록

This study aims to investigate the theological tasks of Christianity in the era of the 4th industrial revolution. Since technology is changing nature of humanity characterized by a shift from Homo Sapiens to Homo Deus, the 4th industrial revolution should be of theological concern. However, the Bible proclaims that human identity is fundamentally that of a creature created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). I would like to summarize the concept of the image of God and its theological and ethical meaning from the following five perspectives: a created being, an holistic existence, a communal or social existence, human dignity and stewards in the Cultural Mandate. First, humans are creatures who arefinite and depent, and even human creativity expressed in technological innovation only means “created” as co-creators. Second, as a holistic being of body and soul, we criticize the distorted understanding of human enhancement technology which only emphasizes the human body and regards prolonged lifespan as eternal life or artificial intelligence. It not only gives up human physicality, but also simply pursues mental immortality. Third, human beings are communal beings who must live in harmony with God, their neighbors, and the natural world. Fourth, human beings, as dignified beings like God, have freedom and equal rights, and thus should not be instrumentalized under any circumstances. Lastly, human beings are stewards with the responsibility to carry out God’s Cultural Mandate. By using technology, human beings should take care of creation and rule over it.
