포스트휴머니즘과 불멸성

국문 초록

포스트휴머니즘은 무엇인가? 포스트휴머니즘은 이미 시작되었고, 지금도 끊임없이 진행 중이면서 진화되고 있는 획기적이고 압도적인 인류의 역사적 사건이다. 포스트휴머니즘 담론들이 공유하고 있는 개념들은 다음과 같이 세 가지로 요약할 수 있다. 첫째, 포스트휴머니즘 담론들은 휴머니즘에 대한 반성적 태도를 취하고 있으며 전통적인 데카르트적인간 개념에 대한 대체적인 개념을 필요로 하는 반휴머니즘 성향을 나타낸다. 둘째, 인간의 삶에 깊숙이 침투하는 첨단 과학 기술로 인한 인간 조건의 변화를 인정하며, 인간과 기계와의 공존을 모색한다. 셋째, 인간과 인간-아님(the non-human)과 비인간(the inhuman)의 경계를 허물고 혼종적 존재의 주체를 사유한다. 포스트휴먼 시대에 ‘기술-환상’의 방법론을 획득한 인류는 불멸을 향한 영원한 삶에 대하여 욕망을 표출한다. 인간이 생물학적 한계를 넘어 불멸의 육체와 지능을 소유하게 된 신인류인 호모 데우스(Homo Deus)와 데이터교(The Data Religion)와 ‘만물의 인터넷’(Internet-of-All-Things)에 대하여 ‘빅히스토리’ 사관에 따라 유발 하라리(Yuval Noah Harari)는 언급하였고, 이에 관하여 필자는 호모 데우스를 포스트휴먼의 일종으로 재정의하고, 해석학적 분석을 진행하였다. 또한 프랑켄슈타인 예언(the Frankenstein Prophecy, 과학 기술의 발달로 인한 인류의 종말)의 직접적 실현을 극복하기 위하여 과학 기술과 신학의 세속주의와의 접촉과 흐름에 대하여 논의하면서 ‘세속화의 역설’을 신을 위한 새로운 공간 창조, 즉 세속의 비틀기라는 의미로 진전시킨다. 마지막으로 불멸을 향한 생명, 조에와 비오스에 대하여 성찰하면서 포스트휴먼시대의 죽음과 불멸성에 대한 신학적 역동성의 잠재성과 가능성에 대하여 논의하고자 한다. 더불어 그것에 대한 해결의 단초를 신학적 생명의 외연과 내연의 화해와 확장을 종말론적인 ‘조에의 환대’(zoe-hospitality) 라는 개념으로 창조적 공간을 확보하고 해석학적 통찰을 전개하였다.

영문 초록

What is Posthumanism? Posthumanism is an epochal and overwhelming historical event of mankind that has already begun, which is still constantly progressing and evolving. The concepts shared by various Posthumanism discourses can be summarized in three ways: First, Posthumanism discourse takes a reflective attitude toward humanism and indicates anti-Humanism tendency that requires alternative concepts of traditional Cartesian human concepts. Second, Posthumanism recognizes changes in human conditions caused by advanced technology that penetrate deeply into human life, and seeks coexistence with humans and machines. Third, it breaks down the boundaries between the human being, the non-human and the inhuman and deal with the subject of hybridity. Human beings who acquired the methodology of “technology-fantasy” in the Posthumanism-era express their desire for eternal life. According to the “Big History” historical view, Yuval Noah Harari referred to Homo Deus, a new species whose human beings have come to possess immortal bodies and intelligence beyond biological limits, and Data Religions and the Internet-of-All Things. In this regard, I redefined Homo Deus as a kind of Posthuman and conducted a hermeneutical analysis. In addition, to overcome the direct realization of the Frankenstein Prophecy, I developed the concept of the “paradox of secularism”, which means twisting of the world in science and theology to create a new space for God. Finally, I would like to reflect on life towards immortality, Zoe and Bios, and discuss the potential and possibility of the theological dynamism of death and immortality in the Posthumanism-era. Furthermore, I propose that a simple solution to our current dilemma is to secure a creative space and to develop hermeneutical insights under the concept of apocalyptic “zoe-hospitality” for the external and internal reconciliation of theological life.
