국문 초록

이글은 “지역공동체와 기독교교육”이라는 주제 아래 개최된 2016년 한국기독교교육학회 하계 학술대회에서 발표된 글로서 필자가 관여하는 지역의 기독교교육활동을 소개하고 그 내용을 정리한 글이다. 민중들을 위한 교사였던 예수 그리스도는 거리에서, 광야에서, 회당에서, 또 들에서 그들과 대화와 가르침의 시간을 가지셨다. 예수의 지역은 거리였으며 그의 메시지가 필요한 사람들이 있는 곳이 예수에게는 지역이었다. 하나님의 사랑은 고통받는 자에게 우선적으로 임하시며 그 사랑은 예수 그리스도의 사역가운데 역사적으로 구체화되었다. 하지만 한국교회는 예수의 가르침과 실천방식을 따르기보다는 교회자체의 성장에만 관심을 갖는 방식으로 교육적 사역을 해 왔기에 교회의 위기에 봉착하게 되었다. 이에 비판적이며 문제제기 교육방식만이 아니라 전통적 교회와 예언적 교회를 구분하여 예언적 교회의 교육적 사역을 강조한 파울로 프레이리(Paulo Freire)의 통찰이 한국교회와 기독교교육을 위한 메시지가 될 수 있길 바란다. b이 글에서 현장과 실천을 지향하는 프레이리의 교육사상을 바탕으로, 지역에서 연구자가 함께 연대하여 실행하고 있는 세 가지 내용의 기독교교육의 이야기를 소개하고자 한다. 구체적 내용은 세월호 미수습자 가족 어머니와의 연대, 광주지역 혼인이주여성과 함께하는 부모교육, 지역교회의 여성성도들과 함께 시도하고 있는 여성의 자기이해교육 활동과 그에 대한 기독교교육적 의미를 분석하고자 한다. 기독교교육의 활동주체, 공간, 내용을 성도, 교회, 성서내용에 그치지 않고 지역주민, 지역공간, 성서해석의 차원으로 확장하여 실천하기를 요청하고자 하는 글이다. 지역공동체와 기독교교육의 만남의 자리를 소개하고, 그 가운데 보이는 기독교교육의 의미를 설명하려고 한다.

영문 초록

This article is written for my presentation to ‘The Korean Society of Christian Religious Education’ in the summer conference of 2016. The theme of the conference was “Local Community and Christian Education”, so I have decided to write an article on my three educational activities related with women in Gwangju, where I am living and working as a pastor and Christian educator. In my opinion, as a teacher, Jesus Christ had time for dialogue and teaching in the street, synagogue, field and mountains with marginalized people. God’s primary love is shown to the people who are in various types of suffering and through the ministries of Jesus Christ in very concrete ways. However, Korean Christian churches have not followed his teachings and ways of practical ministries, instead focusing their interests in the Church growing for several decades. I hope that Korean churches can listen to messages from Paulo Freire, who taught the importance of not only critical pedagogy but also the role of prophetic educational ministries. I have introduced three Christian educational activities with women in the local level which I have engaged as a Christian teacher and as an ordained pastor from the perspective of Freire, who insists on contextual education and praxis. These three practical communal educational programs are: solidarity with mothers of the lost students of the Sewol ferry ship, pa-renting education with migrant women in Gwangju, and a self reflection program with female Christian members in a local church named ‘Didache Table’ in Gwangju. I have written the contents of these three programs and tried a dialogue utilizing the educational views of Paulo Freire. Christian education should enlarge its conceptual engagement of subject, content, and space from the congregation members, Bible stories, and local churches to local people, theological in-terpretation of Christian faith, and the local spaces.
