국문 초록

한국은 어느 나라보다 빠르게 고령화되어 가고 있는 반면, 국가적 차원에서 고령층에 대한 대책 마련이 충분하지 않아 노인의 소외와 빈곤 등의 문제가 큰 사회적 문제로 제기되고 있다. 핵가족 제도가 보편화되면서 자녀들의 경로사상이나 부양 의식이 희박해지고 있고, 산업화 사회에 들어서면서 노인은 신체적으로 사회적으로 생산력을 잃은 연령층으로 인식되면서 사회 속에서 결정력을 행사하거나 경제적 활동을 할 수 있는 자리를 잃어 왔다. 이에 더하여, 정보화 사회에 들어서면서 적응력이 빠른 젊은 세대에 비해 노인들이 느끼는 소외감과 허탈감은 더욱 가중되고 있다. 노인은 지능이 저하되어 더 이상 학습이 불가능한 그룹이 아니다. 개인에 따라서는 성공적인 노화를 이루어 가며 누구보다도 학습하기를 원하며 새것에 대한 도전을 피하지 않는 존재들이다. 노인은 귀찮거나 쓸모없는 존재는 아닌 것이다. 교회의 노인도 하나님의 형상을 지음 받은, 하나님과 세상 앞에 책임을 다하고자 하는 교육과 선교의 주체자가 될 수 있으며, 이에 필요한 욕구와 과제를 가지고 있고, 평생 성장을 멈출 수 없는 인간으로 새롭게 인식되어야 한다. 따라서, 노인 기독교교육의 목적은 신앙적 삶, 기독교적 삶의 성숙에까지 확대되어야 하며, 사회적으로 교회적으로 노인들에게 제기되는 문제들을 해결하고자 하는 것도 고려한 것이어야 할 것이다. 성서를 통한 신앙교육에 그치지 말고, 자아 통합과 사회 통합을 위한 교육 내용들이 제공되어야 하고, 방법에 있어서도 다양한 목적과 내용에 맞게 전인적 통합 방법이 연구되어야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

Korea has experienced a sudden increase of the old but not coped with that increase properly, which resulted in social problem such as estrangement or poverty of the old. The conspicuous trend toward nuclear families led to the decrease of respect for the old people. As the industry has developed increasingly, the old has been regarded as the persons who have lost the productivity, and therefore they have lost the chances of decision and employment. Futhermore they feel more estrangement in the modern society of information and technology. However, the old are not the group whose intelligence is too low to be educated. Some of them grow older successfully and eager to learn and challenge. They are neither useless nor annoying. In the church as well, the old people are the beings formed after the shape of the God. They can be the subjects of education and missionary work. They should be recognized as the persons who also have desire and task of the education and missionary work. Therefore, the object of the christian education of the old should be enlarged into the life of belief and the solution of the problem of the old. The education of the faith only must not be the end of education. Rather, the content of the education has to be composed for the self-integration and the social integration, and the methodology should be developed for the purpose of diverse whole-man education.
