종교적 사고와 행동의 매개심리 과정모형에 관한 연구

국문 초록

도덕적 사고는 어떠한 매개를 사용하지 않고 도덕적 행동으로 이어진다는 Kohlberg의 가정 위에, 종교적 사고와 신앙행동은 직접적으로 엇물려 있는 직선적(linearity) 관계를 가진다는 Goldman의 생각에 대해 본 연구는 이의를 제기함으로 시작되었다. 많은 심리학자들이 사고와 행동 사이에는 이를 매개하는 여러 변인이 있음을 시사함에 따라 종교적 사고와 행동 사이에도 이를 중재하는 많은 변인이 있음을 알아보았다. 즉, 지금까지 무비판적으로 받아들여 오던 종교적 사고와 신앙행동의 괴리 문제를 심리학적으로 재조명하여 종교적 사고와 행동을 매개할 수 있는 인지 발달론적 입장의 Rest이론을 살펴보았다. Rest는 이상적인 행동을 추리하는 단계와 행동에 옮길 방안을 결정하는 단계의 과정을 사고와 행동 사이에 둠으로 그 괴리를 설명하였다. 종교와 도덕성의 유사성과 차이점을 설명하면서 종교는 도덕성의 증진에 큰 영향을 준다는 Lickona의 인성교육이론은 좋은 인성이란 도덕적 지식·도덕적 감정·도덕적 행동으로 구성되어 있으며, 도덕적 지식이 도덕적 행동으로 나타나기 위해서는 도덕적 감정을 매개로 한다는 것을 살펴보았다. 특히 Lickona는 이러한 3요소의 각 영역에서의 좋은 인성 요소들을 제시해 주고 있으며, 행동영역에서의 능력, 의지, 습관의 구조에 의해 사고와 행동의 괴리를 더 자세히 설명하려 하였다. 이러한 연구들을 통하여 지식과 행동 사이에는 정의적인 심리과정이 있음을 확인하였다.

영문 초록

As a number of scientists suggest a thought that there are many variables which intermediate between thinking-process and behavior, this study finds some variables that intermediate religious thinking and its behavior. In other words, this study re-illuminates the disparate problems of religious thinking and act of faith which were taken without criticism, and further explores Rest-theory of a recognitive developmental point of view that intermediates religious thinking and its behavior. Placing the reasoning stage for an ideal behavior and the decision making state for an action in between thinking-process and behavior, Rest explains the disparate concept. Explaining the similarities and differences between religion and morality, Lickona stated that religion influences the making of morality. His human-nature education theory further states that a good human-nature is consisted of aknowledge of morality, a sense of morality, and an act of morality. In order for the knowledge of morality to be expressed in a form of the act of morality, the sense of morality is at work as a devise of intermediation. Especially, Lickona offers good human-nature in each domain of these three elements, and explain a dilemma of the thinking-process and the behavior in detail by the rules of competency, volition, and habit. What s discovered through this study is the observation that there is a psychological process in between knowledge and behavior.
