장애학생의 통합학교 도서관 이용에 대한 사서교사의 견해 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 장애학생이 통합된 일반학교의 장애학생 도서관 이용 현황과 사서교사의 인식을 분석하고 향후 서비스 확대 방안을 모색하기 위한 것이다. 구체적으로, 본 연구는 장애학생의 도서관 이용 특성, 사서교사가 장애학생을 위해 제공하고 있는 서비스, 학교도서관 이용이 장애학생에게 제공하는 이점, 사서교사가 장애학생을 지도하면서 경험하는 어려움, 그리고 사서교사가 생각하는 장애학생 서비스 활성화 방안에 대해 살펴보았다. 본 연구에는 장애 학생이 재학 중인 일반 학교에서 학교도서관을 운영하고 있는 사서교사 10명을 대상으로 서면 인터뷰를 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 사서교사는 장애학생의 도서관 이용능력이 부족하고 난이도가 낮은 도서를 이용하는 경향이 있지만, 도서관을 방문해 일반학생을 만나고 사서교사와의 대화를 위해 도서관을 이용하는 경우가 많은 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 사서교사들은 장애학생의 장애 특성에 대한 이해가 부족하기 때문에 장애학생이 보이는 문제 행동에 적절하게 대처하지 못하고 있는 상황이었다. 사서교사가 인식하는 장애학생의 도서관 이용 효과는 주로 일반학생과의 교류를 통한 사회성 증진, 독서활동을 통한 학습능력 신장인 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 사서교사가 장애학생에게 제공하는 주요 서비스는 추천도서 제공, 책 읽어주기, 일반학생의 장애학생 이해를 도와주기 위한 도서 추천으로 나타났다. 사서교사가 생각하고 있는 학교도서관의 장애학생 서비스 활성화 방안은 장애학생의 특성에 맞는 자료와 시설을 구비하고 장애학생에게 적합한 장서를 제공하는 것과 특수교사와의 협력을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

The study investigated the perception of the teacher librarians in the inclusive school on the utilization of the students with disabilities and the ways to improve the services for the students with disabilities. The study included 10 teacher librarians who work at the inclusive school libraries. In the results, the teacher librarians indicated that the students with disabilities have a low ability to use library, prefer easy books, and visit the library to meet their peers without disabilities and the teacher librarian. The teacher librarians had a difficulty to deal with the students problem behaviors, and the difficulty came from the low understanding about the characteristics of the disability. The teacher librarians indicated that students with disabilities can improve a social ability through the interaction with students without disabilities and a learning ability through the reading activities. The teacher librarians recommend books for the students with disabilities and read books for them, and recommend books for the students without disabilities to understand disabilities. The teacher librarians suggested the ways to improve the school library services including provision of resources and facilities for the students with disabilities, provision of appropriate books for the students, and collaboration with special education teachers.
