국문 초록

본 연구는 대학 인성교육에서 이슈가 되고 있는 역량 함양의 가능성을 역량에 대한 구체적인 접근을 통하여 규명하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 대학 인성교육의 역량 함양 가능성은 역량의 특성 중 총체성, 성찰, 역동성을 고려할 때에 가능하다. 즉 역량의 인성 교육적 함의는 역량 개념과 특성에 대한 보다 구체적인 접근과 특성을 파악함으로써 가능해지는 것이다. 역량은 표층적인 층위와 심층적인 층위를 가진 총체적인 구조를 지니며 역량들의 상호 연결은 주체의 성찰을 통해 가능해진다. 뿐만 아니라 역량은 다른 역량들과의 상호작용을 통해 역동적이고 통합적으로 작용한다. 이러한 역량의 특성들은 인성교육의 설계에 있어서도 유의미하게 작용할 수 있다. 즉 인성교육에서 주요하게 고려해야 하는 점은 바로 역량의 심층적 층위라 할 수 있는 한 인격체의 태도, 동기, 가치 함양이며, 이는 자신에 대한 성찰을 토대로 가능하다. 뿐만 아니라 주체는 타인 및 주변 환경과의 상호작용을 통해 성숙해지므로 역량의 역동성과 변화가능성을 고려하여 인성교육의 목적, 내용 및 교수법을 설계해야 한다. 위에서 살펴본 인성교육의 이슈와 역량에 대한 심도 있는 이해는 궁극적으로 교양교육의 목표와도 무관하지 않다. 왜냐하면 교양교육은 비판적이고 자주적인 사고, 성찰과 마음 계발을 극대화하여 편견, 미신, 도그마에서 벗어나 개인의 성숙한 삶을 지향하기 때문이다. 그 과정에서 개인은 타인 및 주변 환경과 상호작용하며 자신의 정체성을 파악하고 공동체의 구성원으로서 책임감을 가지고 공동체의 발전에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the possibility of the cultivation of competencies, which is an issue pertaining to university character education, through a specific approach to these competencies. The possibility of cultivating competencies in university character education is possible when taking into account holism (multi-dimensionality), reflectivity, and dynamism aspects among the characteristics of competencies. In other words, the character education implications of competencies become possible by implementing more specific approaches and characteristics to the concepts of competencies and characteristics. Competencies have a total structure, with both superficial and deep layers, and the interconnection of competencies becomes possible through the reflection of the subject. In addition, competencies work dynamically and integrally through interactions with other competencies. These characteristics of competencies can also play a significant role in the design of character education. In other words, the main point to consider in character education is the cultivation of attitudes, motivations, and values of a person, all of which can be said to comprise a deep level of competencies, and which is further made possible through self-reflection. In addition, since the subject matures through interaction with others and the surrounding environment, the purpose, content, and teaching method of character education must be designed by taking into consideration the dynamics of competencies and the possibility of change. The understanding of the issues and competencies of character education discussed above is certainly not irrelevant to the goal of liberal arts education. This is because liberal arts education maximizes critical and independent thinking, introspection, and the development of the mind, freeing one from prejudice, superstition, and dogma, with the further aim of preparing one for one’s future life as an individual. In the process, individuals will be able to interact with others and their surroundings, grasp their identity, and contribute to the development of the community with a sense of responsibility as one of its members.
