목요시 동인의 ‘선언’과 변화양상

국문 초록

1980년대의 문학은 신군부정권에 맞선 문학적 응전의 시기였다. 작가들이 소집단을 형성하여 동인지, 무크지를 발행하였는데 그중에 목요시 동인이 있다. 목요시 동인은 1979년 봄에 결성되어 1986년까지 『목요시』 6권을 냈다. 매호마다 ‘선언’으로동인지의 지향점을 분명히 하고 있다. 그 ‘선언’의 변화양상을 광주민중항쟁 이전과이후로 나누어 분석하였다. 이를 위하여 『목요시』의 서지사항을 정리하고 목요시 동인의 결성과정을 밝혔다. 광주민중항쟁 이전에 발행한 ‘선언’에는 상업성으로부터 자유로운 작품을 쓰는 것에 지향점이 있었다. 광주민중항쟁 이후의 3권의 동인지와 1권의 선집에는 광주민중항쟁의 충격이 문학의 도구성을 강조하는 것으로 나타났다. 광주에서 적극적인 문학운동과 출판운동이 전개되었는데 목요시도 맥락을 같이하고 있었다. 목요시 동인은 기성세대로서 참신성이나 새로운 기교를 선보인 것은 아니었다. 하지만 ‘선언’을 통해서 동인활동의 목적성이나 지향점을 분명하게 제시한 점이 다른동인지들과 변별된다. 목요시 동인은 1980년대 초반의 집단적인 시운동의 가능성을보여주었다는 점에서 광주전남 지역문단 뿐만 아니라 한국문학사에도 의미있는 활동을 보여준 것이다.

영문 초록

In literature, the 1980s represented a period of response to the new military regime. Authors formed small groups and published literary magazines, and Mokyoshi was one of them. Created in the spring of 1979, six issues of Mokyoshi were published through 1986. Each issue included a clear literary coterie magazine statement as a ‘declaration,’ changes associated with this declaration are examined in this study. To analyze the declarations that have appeared before and after the Gwangju Uprising, Mokyoshi’s bibliography was first compiled, and then, its development process described. Prior to the Gwangju Uprising, two literary coterie magazines were published and the declarations announced the intention to produce works free of commerciality. After the Gwangju Uprising, three literary coterie magazines and one collection were published that emphasized the instrumentality of literature in the Gwangju Uprising. In Gwangju, the development of the literary and publishing movements is in line. The changes are clear and apparent when examining Mokyoshi’s declarations, because they were produced in Gwangju by those who experienced the Gwangju Uprising. The Mokyoshi members did not express novelty or new poetic techniques like the older generation but showed their purpose or direction clearly through the declaration, which making them different from others. As a result, Mokyoshi demonstrated the possibility of a collective poetic movement in the early 1980s. Moreover, it was also a meaningful activity for the Gwangju Jeonnam regional literary groups.
