성령세례와 중생을 구분하는 로이드 존스의 주장에 대한 반론

국문 초록

로이드 존스는 성령세례와 관련하여 자신의 신학여정을 소개하면서 예전에는성령의 인침은 회심과 동시에 일어난다고 생각했으나−1950년대 중반에 행한 에베소서 강해설교에서부터−성령의 인침과 회심은 명확히 구분된다는 것을 깨달았다고 한다. 즉, 성령의 구원사역과 성령세례를 분리시켜 설명하면서 믿음으로 신자가되는 것과 성령으로 세례를 받는 것은 서로 다른 것이라고 주장한다. 그러므로 로이드 존스는 신자가 되었다고 해서 동시에 반드시 성령세례도 받게 되는 것이 아니라는 견해를 밝혔다. 그는 구원사역은 성령의 사역이지만 성령세례는 그리스도의사역이라고 하며 중생과 성령세례를 분리시키고 있다. 즉, 성령세례는 우리의 구원과 관련된 문제가 아니라 그리스도인의 사역과 관련된 문제라고 강조한다. 그렇기때문에 성령세례의 목적을 “사람에게 권능으로 충만히 채워서 그리스도의 더 좋은증인이 되게 하는 것”이라고 규정한다. 여기서 그는 신자가 되기 위해 중생되는 것과 신자로 살아가기 위해 성령세례를 받아야 하는 것이 별개의 것들로 보고 있음을알 수 있다. 믿음만으로도 곧 중생만으로도 주님의 놀라운 권능을 드러낼 수 있고 주님의 능력을 경험할 수 있는 것이다. 결과적으로 로이드 존스는 성령세례와 중생의 구별을주장하기 위해 많은 부분에서 개혁주의 신학과 다른 주장들을 하지만 그 주장들은무리가 있다는 것을 증명했다. 이 논문을 통해 중생은 성령주심이고 성령주심이곧 성령세례임을 증명하게 되었다. 하지만 로이드 존스는 성령의 나타남이 없는 영국교회의 현실을 보면서 설교자로서 성령의 임재를 중요시했다.

영문 초록

Lloyd-Jones introduced his journey of theology related to the baptism of the Spirit. He said that although at first he thought that the seal of the Holy Spirit coincides with conversion, but later, from the expository sermon of Ephesians in the half of 1950, he realized that the seal of the Holy Spirit is separated from conversion. He claimed that while he dissociate the Holy Spirit s work of salvation from the baptism of the Spirit, being a believer by faith is different from being baptized with the Holy Spirit. Therefore, Lloyd-Jones expressed his view that whoever becomes a believer does not mean that he is necessarily given the baptism of the Spirit. He separated regeneration from the baptism of the Holy Spirit by saying the work of salvation is the work of the Holy Spirit and the baptism of the Holy Spirit is the work of Christ. He emphasized that the baptism of the Spirit is related not to our deliverance but to the work of a Christian. We can know that here he sees that being born again to become a believer differs from being baptized with the Spirit. We can reveal and experience the wonderful power of the Lord either only by faith or only by regeneration. As a result, it turns out that Lloyd-Jones asserts the different opinion from the Reformed theology in many ways so that he declared that we must make a sharp distinction between the baptism of the Holy Spirit and regeneration but his idea is excessive one. Eventually, it proves in this thesis that regeneration is giving the Holy Spirit and giving the Holy Spirit is the baptism of the Holy Spirit. It seems that because he saw the circumstance of the British churches without the appearance of the Holy Spirit, Lloyd-Jones as a preacher emphasized the presence of the Holy Spirit.
