기독교상담의 상담관계: 공감의 의미와 성육신 개념을 중심으로

국문 초록

이 논문의 목적은 상담자와 내담자 사이의 상담관계에 대한 기독교적 관점을 제시하는 것이다. 구체적으로, 이 연구는 상담관계와 연관하여 상담자의 중요한 특성으로 여겨지는 공감을 그리스도의 성육신의 관점에서 이해하고, 기독교 상담관계에 대한 함의를 제공한다. 이를 위해, 이 논문은 먼저 상담관계를 정의하는 용어인‘치료적동맹’과 ‘작업동맹’의 의미를 고찰하며, 좋은 상담관계 형성을 위한 중요한요소 중의 하나가 상담자의 공감임을 지적한다. 이어서 공감의 의미를 그리스도의성육신에 나타난 하나님의 공감적 사랑으로 재해석하며, 기독교의 중요한 진리인그리스도의 성육신이 기독교 상담사에게 상담관계 형성을 위한 중요한 함의를 제공함을 주장한다. 기독교상담을 위한 구체적인 함의로서, 이 연구는 성육신과 연관된 그리스도에 관한 지식을 배우고 성장할 때 기독교 상담사는 성장과 변화를 체험하고, 이러한 상담자의 변화는 상담관계에서 직면하는 부정적인 내담자 요인을 효과적으로 극복할 수 있도록 도우며, 그리스도의 공감에 기초한 상담자의 공감을 적절하게 전달하기 위해서는 비언어적 자세, 사고의 재진술, 감정의 반영과 같은 관련 공감 기술들이 필요함을 제시한다. 마지막으로, 기독교 상담관계를 점검할 수있는 기독교적 관점에서 작업동맹척도를 개발하는 후속 연구가 필요함을 제안한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to provide a Christian perspective for a counseling relationship between the counselor and the counselee. Specifically, it provides an understanding on the counselor’s characteristic of empathy in the light of incarnation of Christ, and then provides implications for Christian counseling relationship. To achieve this purpose, this article first examines the definitions of therapeutic alliance and working alliance, and points out that the empathy of a counselor is a major factor to build a good counseling relationship. And then, it reinterprets God’s empathic love in the light of Christ’s incarnation, and claims that the incarnation of Christ provides the following three implication for a Christian counseling relationship: First, Christian counselors need to learn and grow in the knowledge of Christ and his incarnation, and then, consequently Christian counselor would experience growth and change. Second, this change will equip the Christian counselor to effectively deal with negative factors of the client in counseling relationship. Third, to successfully convey the counselor’s empathy, he or she needs to learn various empathic skills such as non-verbal gestures, restatement of thoughts and mirroring of emotions. Lastly, this study suggests to develop a working alliance inventory(WAI) in Christian perspective to examine counseling relationship and counselor’s empathy for future study.
