《管錐編》의 숨겨진 今典에 대하여 — ‘정치적 독해’ 방법론의 유효성 검증을 중심으로

국문 초록

필자는 《管錐編》의 진정한 창작 동기와 창작 원리 그리고 장르 규정에 대한 새로운 의미 규정을 위해 지금까지 일련의 논고를 발표해왔다. 본고는 이를 위한 시도의 하나이다. 제2장에서는 《管錐編⋅毛詩正義》 第四三則을 다룬다. 이 條에 대한 분석을 통해, 본 텍스트에서 錢鍾書가 실제로 의미하는 것은 中西 비교문학 연구가 아니라 바로 毛澤東의 長江 수영 횡단 활동 및 그의 이상주의적 혁명이론에 대한 문학적 풍자와 비판임이 드러날 것이다. 제3장에서는 《管錐編⋅太平廣記》 第一一三則의 第一段을 다룬다. 이 條에 대한 분석을 통해, 본 텍스트에서 錢鍾書가 실제로 의미하는 것은 中西 비교문학 연구가 아니라 바로 反右派運動 시기에 毛澤東이 지식인을 탄압했던 행위에 대한 문학적 재구성 및 풍자임이 드러날 것이다. 《管錐編》의 가장 큰 창작 동기는 錢鍾書가 직접 겪은 中華人民共和國 초기 30년간의 주요 사회문화 사건과 이데올로기에 대한 은밀한 문학적 풍자와 비판에 있는 것으로 생각된다. 본고를 통해 이 작품의 문학적 특징과 가치, 그리고 錢鍾書가 추구했던 자유주의 정신이 재조명되기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

The search for genuine creative motives, principles of creation, and main subject of Guanzhui bian remains a long-term academic cold case despite it’s importance and attention. Chapter 2 analyzes the creative motives of the 43th essay of Shijing in Guanzhui bian. Through the analysis, it will be revealed that what Qian Zhongshu really means in this text is not the study of comparative literature in the China and the West, but the satire and criticism of Mao’s swimming activity across the Yangtze River and his ideal revolutionary theory. Chapter 3 analyzes the creative motives of first paragraph of the 113th essay of Taipingguangji in Guanzhui bian. Through the analysis, it will be revealed that the real meaning of Qian Zhongshu in this text is not a study of comparative literature in the China and the West, but a literary reconstruction and satire on the act of Mao Zedong’s mean repression of intellectuals during the Anti-Rightist Campaign. The biggest creative motive of Guanzhui bian lies in his literary satire and ideologically criticizing the important social and cultural events and phenomena of the People’s Republic of China, which he himself experienced for 30 years. Through re-reading on Guanzhui bian, I hope that the literary value of this book, the last masterpiece in classical Chinese of the 20th century, and the spirit of liberal thought that Qian Zhongshu tried to keep will be newly recognized.
