가톨릭 『상장예식』의 연도악보 고찰

국문 초록

한국가톨릭에서는 장례가 나면 신자들이 함께 모여 밤을 지새우면서 죽은 이에 대한 예와 정성을 담은 기도를 드리게 된다. 이를 연도라고하며, 오늘날에는 위령기도라고 한다. 연도는 제사의 금지 사실을 확인한 신앙선조들이 제사대신 조선의 관행과 가톨릭문화를 접목시켜 만든 토착화된 문화유산이다. 신자들의 입을 통하여 구전 전승되던 연도가락은 2004년 이후 통일화되었으나 통일된 악보의 문제점으로 인한 해석과 지도방법에 따라 다양화되고 있는 실정이다. 이 글에서는 시편 129(130)와 성인호칭기도(연옥도문)를, 서울(2005), 대구(2012)의 구연도악보와 성교예규(1991), 상장예식(2014), 부산(2002), 제안악보(2007)의 신연도악보를 비교 고찰하여 바람직한 악보수정을 제안하였다. 첫째, 계응으로 부르는 기도문은 편안한 박을 제시하고, 합송 전 후에는 충분하게 한 호흡을 쉬게 한다. 둘째, 남녀가 함께 부르기 편한 음높이로서 현재의 음높이를 한음 낮은 d계면조로 바꾼다. 셋째, 음표만으로 표현할 수 없는 선율의 흐름은 시김새로 나타낸다. 시김새는 꾸밈음으로 표기하되 규칙성이 있어야한다. 넷째, 음표 위에 표기된 부호 ( ⃩ )는 삭제한다. 다섯째, 음절에 맞는 박을 규칙적으로 사용하고, 우리나라 사람에게 익숙한 3소박 표기로 수정한다. 이상의 방법은 200여년 넘게 이어오는 연도가 다양한 사람들의 취향에 맞추어 변질되는 것을 막고 전통의 방법을 유지하기 위한 것이다. 『상장예식』은 한국천주교 주교회의에서 만든 것이기에 문제가 있다고 해서 해적판을 만들어 사용하거나 개인 취향에 따라 바꿀 수는 없다. 그러나 악보표기의 오류, 바뀐 성경에 맞지 않는 기도문, 예식의 간소화로 인한 현실을 반영하지 않은 채 지속적으로 발행되는 것도 문제이다. 기도문은 2005년 이후 한국천주교주교회의에서 발행된 『성경』을 토대로, 예식은 2017년 주교회의 결정을 반영하여 첨삭ㆍ수정이 불가피해졌다. 본 원고에서 제안된 악보수정 방법이 함께 반영되길 기대해 본다.

영문 초록

In Korean Catholicism, when a funeral is held, believers gather together and spend all night offering a prayer with courtesy and sincerity for the deceased. The rite is called “Yeondo,” or today, it’s known as a requiem prayer. Yeondo is a part of a naturalized heritage culture; combined customs of Joseon and Catholic culture created by faithful ancestors to replace prohibited ancestral rites. The Yeondo (mourning song) melodies that were transmitted orally by believers were unified in 2004. However, the unified scores raise many issues such as diversified interpretations and instructing methods. Through comparative consideration, this study purposes a solution to modifying the scores. References include, “Book of Psalms 129 (130)” and “Litany of the Saints (Litany for Souls in Purgatory)” through Seoul (2005), Daegu (2012), Sŏnggyoyegyu (성교예규,1991), Sangjangyesik (상장예식 2014), Busan (2002), and Offer Score (2007). First, prayers should be said with a devote heart and accurate pronunciation with a rest beat before and after the collective chanting of prayers. Second, emotions should be expressed like in jeongak with the pitch changed to d gyemyeonjo that is lower by a note through ♭. Third, the melodic flow that cannot be expressed only with notes should be marked with sigimsae. Instead of marking notes with an accurate length, sigimsae should decorate them with grace and have regularity. Fourth, any marks, such as ⃩, over notes should be deleted. Finally, beats that fit the notes and regular beats should be used; try to use four thirds of a beat on notes, as they are familiar to the Korean people. The above proposals seek to prevent any transmutation of Yeondo that is capriciously changed by the taste of various people, which has continued for over 200 years. “Funeral Ceremonies” were made at the Catholic Bishops Conference of Korea (CBCK), which means that individuals cannot replace rites with pirate editions or change them according to one’s personal taste. However, an error in notation, different interpretations of the Bible, and the continuously issued, even simplification of ceremonies cause lack of reflecting reality. It Is now inevitable to correct and revise the prayers based on the “Bible” published at the Bishops’ Conferences of Korean Catholicism since 2005 and also the ceremonies by reflecting the decisions made at Bishops’ Conferences in 2017. The score revisions proposed in the study will hopefully be reflected in them.
