국문 초록

이 연구는 대학 내에 설치된 글쓰기 센터의 운영에 있어서 주요 기능과 역할을 고찰한 뒤 향후 발전 방안을 수립함으로써 대학 학습자들의 글쓰기 능력을 향상시키기 위한 구체적인 전략을 모색해 보는 것에 그 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위해 서강대학교 글쓰기 센터의 운영 사례를 참조하여 그 성과와 과제를 조망해 보기로 한다. 학부교육 선진화 사업의 일환으로 2011년 설립된 서강대 글쓰기 센터도 현재까지 다양한 글쓰기 관련 프로그램을 수립하고 운영하였다. 그 가운데 학생들의 수준에 맞추어 상담을 진행하는 ‘튜터링 과정’과 ‘글쓰기 기반 과정(WAC: Writing Across the Curriculum)’의 온라인 시스템 구축을 가장 큰 성과라고 평할 수 있다. 글쓰기 센터를 명실상부한 실질적인 기관으로 발전시키기 위해서는 책임 있는 전임 인력을 확충하는 일이 무엇보다도 시급하다. 또한 이를 위해 글쓰기 센터 사업을 지속하기 위한 대학 내부 예산을 독립적으로 편성하는 일도 중요하다. 강의 개설과 교재 개발 및 교수법 육성까지 대학 글쓰기 교육 전반을 총괄하여 기획하고 추진하고 평가하는 운영 주체로서 글쓰기 센터가 전면에 나서야 하는 시점이다.

영문 초록

This thesis aims to introduce operating status of Sogang Center for Writing with main focused on the ‘Tutoring System’ and ‘Writing Across the Curriculum.’ The last purpose of this study is to find ways to improve writing skills for university students through writing center. Sogang Center for Writing plays an important role in the teaching of academic writing since it was held in 2011. Sogang Center for Writing is operating various programs such as teaching methods for commenting, tutoring methods, writing seminars. The major purpose of writing center is the planning and running of writing programs and its assessment. So writing center can give students tutoring system connecting the regular writing curriculum. Writing center in university must give students not only tutoring system but also writing seminars and regular writing curriculum. So writing center is asked for supporting by independent budget and organization.
