주요 대상을 상실한 상담자의 경험에 대한 사례연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 상실을 겪은 상담자의 경험을 심층적으로 이해하고자 하는 목적으로 수행되었다. 이를 위해 상실경험이 있는 상담자 3인을 대상으로, Stake(2005)의 질적사례연구방법으로 연구를 진행하였다. 연구 결과는 각 참여자들의 상실 이전부터 상실 발생 후 상담을 진행하는 과정에서 겪게 되는 특정 경험들을 독립적으로 풀어낸 ‘사례 내 분석’과 그들의 경험에서 공통적으로 찾아지는 의미를 주제별로 정리한 ‘사례 간 분석’으로 제시하였다. 주요 대상을 상실한 상담자들의 경험은 ‘상실 대상에 대한 그리운 기억’, ‘상실로 인한 고통과 슬픔’, ‘상실 직후 안정적인 상담관계 유지를 위해 애씀’, ‘능동적인 애도작업을 통한 상실의 치유와 회복’, ‘상실경험 이후 한층 성숙한 상담자로 거듭남’, ‘상담자 상실 치유와 전문성 관리를 위한 제언’으로 범주화되었다. 상담자들은 상실로 인한 심리적 고통을 겪고 유사 이슈를 가진 내담자에 대한 과감정을 느끼는 등 일시적인 역전이도 경험하였지만, 적극적인 애도작업과 자기 조절로 내담자에 대한 공감과 이해의 폭이 확대되었고 애도상담 역량도 향상되었다. 이러한 결과는 상담자들의 상실 발생 시 대처과정, 애도상담 특화 교육 개발을 위한 자료로 활용도가 있겠다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to comprehensively understand the Loss Experience of Counselor. Three counselors participated in this study. The data were collected and analyzed according to Stake(2005)’s qualitative case study method. The results of this study are as follows: ‘In-case analysis’ that independently explains the specific experiences of each participant in the process of counseling after the loss and ‘Inter-case analysis’ to summarize by the meaning of common themes from experiences. The 6 main categories defined are ‘nostalgic memory of the lost object’, ‘pain and sadness due to the loss’, ‘ struggling to maintain stable counseling relationship after the loss’, ‘healing and recovery from the loss through active mourning’, ‘ becoming a more mature counselor after the loss experience’, and ‘proposal for counselor’s loss healing and expertise management’ Participants experienced psychological suffering due to the loss and temporarily had counter transference toward clients with similar issues. However, with active mourning and self-regulation they were able to expand empathy and understanding for clients and strengthen grief-counseling ability. These results will be used as materials to build procedures to take in case of loss experience and to develop specialized educational courses for grief-counseling.
