대학생 강의경험과 리더십에 관한 근거이론적 접근

국문 초록

본 연구는 대학생 강사의 강의경험과 강의경험이 리더십 개발로 연결되는지 심층적으로 탐색하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위하여 연구참여자들이 강의 수행과정에서 겪었던 현상, 이를 극복할 전략, 이런 전략에 따른 결과를 교육적 관점에서 접근하였다. 본 연구의 참여자들은 A 대학교에서 강의를 진행하고 있거나 진행한 경험이 있는 대학생 강사 13명이다. 참여자에 따라 1∼3회 심층면담을 실시하였다. 면담 시간은 1차 50분∼90분 가량 소요되었고, 2차면담과 3차면담은 약 40분∼60분이었다. 수집된 자료는 Strauss와 Corbin의 근거이론 연구방법에 따라 개방코딩, 축코딩, 선택코딩 절차에 따라 이루어졌다. 연구결과 개방코딩에서 59개의 개념과 28개의 하위범주, 11개의 범주를 발견하였다. 축코딩에서 패러다임에 의한 분석을 실시한 결과 중심현상은 ‘난관에 부딪침’이 발견되었다. 이러한 현상을 발생시키는 인과적 조건은 ‘강의동기발현’, ‘시작된 부담감’이었고 맥락적 조건은 ‘꼬리무는 고민들’이었다. 중심현상의 강도와 양상을 촉진하고 억제하는 중재적 조건은 ‘전문성 강화’, ‘주변의 지지’이었고, 현상에 대처하기 위한 의도적 행위인 작용/상호작용 전략은 ‘관계에 집중’, ‘관찰과 적용’, ‘반성적 성찰’로 나타났다. 결과로는 ‘성공적 성과의 가시화’, ‘리더십 성숙과 확장’이 나타났다. 과정분석의 결과 ‘책임인식 단계’, ‘해결방안모색 단계’, ‘전략적용 단계’, ‘리더십향상 단계’의 4단계로 도출되었다. 선택코딩에서 핵심범주는 ‘강의수행 경험을 통해 스스로 변화하고 성장한 대학생 리더십 향상의 과정’으로 나타났다. 연구참여자들은 쉽게 해볼 수 없는 경험을 스스로 해냈다는 점에 긍지와 자부심을 느꼈다. 대인관계와 의사소통에도 긍정적인 영향을 주었고 이러한 변화는 자연스럽게 리더십 개발로 이어졌다. 본 연구는 대학생이 교수자가 되어 교양 필수과목을 강의한다는 점에 주목하고 강의 수행과정 전체를 탐색하였다는 점에 교육적 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to deeply explore what a college students’ lecturer experiences are like and how such lecture experiences lead to a development of leadership. In order to achieve the purpose, this study explored the phenomena occurred in the lecture process, strategies to overcome them, and the consequences of the use of such strategies from the perspective of education. The participants of this study were 13 students lecturers who currently teach or use to teach science and engineeringin college A. The interview was conducted one to three times for each participant. The first interview was carried out for 50 to 90 minutes and the others took about 40 to 60 minutes. An analysis of data was conducted with Strauss and Corbin(1998)’s procedures of grounded theory; open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. The results of this study defined 59 concepts, 28 subcategories, and 11 categories in open coding stage. According to the analysis based on paradigm in axial coding stage, ‘facing a difficulty’ was identified in core phenomenon. The causative conditions that generate such phenomenon were ‘motivation for lecture’ and ‘begin to feel pressure.’ The contextual condition was ‘a series of concerns’. The mediating conditions that promote and control intensity and appearance of the main phenomenon were ‘develop expertise’ and ‘support from other people.’ The action/interaction strategies, consisting of the intentional behaviors to handle the phenomenon, were ‘focus on relationship’ and ‘observation and application’. The results were ‘visualization of successful achievement’ and ‘maturity and expansion in leadership’. As a result of the process analysis, 4 stages of ‘awareness of responsibility’, ‘seeking solutions’, ‘application of strategy’, and ‘improvement of leadership’ were derived from the data. In selective coding stage, the main category was ‘the process of leadership improvement of the college students who have changed and grown themselves through lecture experience.’ Participants felt pride and confidence in that they managed to gain experience which they could not easily have. It also positively influenced their interpersonal relationship and communication and such change led to the improvement of leadership. This study had educational significance in that it paid attention to the fact that college students taught mandatory liberal arts course as lecturers and investigated the whole process of lecture.
