데이터마이닝과 마케팅리서치에서 토빗모형의 응용에 관한 사례 연구

국문 초록

구조적으로 반응변수의 값이 제한된 범위(limited range) 안에서만 측정되는 자료를 빈번히 관찰할 수 있다. 이러한 경우 회귀분석 방법론에서 널리 사용되는 최소제곱추정법의 적용은 일반적으로 적절하지 않다고 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 반응변수가 제한된 범위 안에서 측정된 자료에 대하여 토빗모형(tobit model)과 선형회귀모형의 결과를 비교함으로써, 통상적인 최소제곱추정법이 실제 독립변수의 영향을 과소평가할 수 있음을 실증적으로 보이고자 한다. 특히 반응변수의 값이 하한 혹은 상한에 많이 집중되어 있는 경우 최소제곱추정법은 편의를 가진 또는 불일치하는 추정치를 제공할 수 있으며, 존재할 수 없는 반응변수의 예측값을 산출할 수도 있음을 살펴보았다. 또한 데이터마이닝과 마케팅리서치에서 전형적으로 얻어지는 실제 사례자료에 대하여 토빗모형을 적용함으로써, 토빗모형이 통상적인 회귀모형에 비하여 실제의 응용적, 해석적 측면에서 보다 효율적임을 보이고자 한다.

영문 초록

It is not unusual for the response variable in a regression model to be subject to censoring or truncation. Tobit regression models are specific examples of such a situation, where for some observations the observed response is not the actual response, but the censoring value (often zero), and an indicator that censoring (from below) has occurred. In this case, applying the OLS method is become known the regression analysis methodological that is not appropriately. It is desirable to apply to the tobit model which reflects the structure of the limited dependent variable from a viewpoint of goodness of fit and construction. In this paper, applying the tobit model to real data in the fields of data mining and marketing research, we compare the result of the regression model with the tobit model to reflect the structure of the limited dependent variable.
