얼굴표정 방해자극이 감정단어 탐색에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

선택적 주의는 과제수행에 있어 방해자극은 무시하고 표적자극에 주의를 주도록 하는 기제이다. 그러나 얼굴 방해자극은 무시되지 않고 표적자극의 수행에 영향을 준다는 결과와 더불어 얼굴인식과 얼굴표정인식은 유사경로를 통해 처리된다는 연구결과가 제시되었다. 따라서 본 연구는 과제와 관련 없는 방해자극이 감정단어를 탐색하는 데 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 방해자극이 존재하지 않는 통제조건, 방해자극으로 악기 또는 과일이 제시되는 사물조건 그리고 우는 아이의 얼굴표정을 방해자극으로 제시한 얼굴조건에서 긍정/부정 단어의 탐색시간을 측정하였다. 그 결과, 통제조건과 사물조건에서는 긍정단어를 부정단어보다 더 빠르게 탐색하는 것으로 나타났으나, 얼굴조건에서는 긍정단어와 부정단어 탐색시간의 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 우는 얼굴표정으로부터 추출될 수 있는 부적 정서가 부정 단어의 탐색을 촉진시킨 것으로 해석할 수 있으며, 얼굴인식과 표정인식이 유사한 경로를 통해 처리된다는 결과를 간접적으로 지지하는 것이다.

영문 초록

The selective attention functions when the distractors are ignored while the target stimuli are paid attention in the task. Several researches, however, have showed that searching the target stimuli was affected by the facial expression distractors that had to be ignored and furthermore the face perception as well as the facial expression perception should be processed through the same route. To examine how task-irrelevant distractors influence the searching of affective words, therefore, we asked the subjects to search the positive and negative words under the controlled condition without distractors, the object condition with instruments and fruits as distractors, and the facial condition with the facial expression of crying children as distrators, and measured the searching time of those words. The results showed that the searching of the positive words was quicker than that of the negative words in both controlled condition and the object condition, while there was no difference of the searching time between the positive and negative words in the facial condition. It could be explained that the negative emotion induced by the crying facial expression facilitated the searching of the negative words. The results suggeted that the face perception and the facial expression perception use the same precessing route.
