한국프로야구에서 승률 예측을 위한 효율적인 통계적 모형

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 프로야구 각 팀들의 득점과 실점대신 팀 전력을 이용하여 승률을 추정하는 통계모형을 제안한다. 각 팀의 전력은 타자들의 타력 지표인 OPS, 투수들의 투구능력 지표인 WWHIP, 팀의 수비력 지표인 DER로 요약되며 이 통계량들을 이용하여 득점과 실점을 추정하고 추정된 득점과 실점 및 야구의 피타고라스 정리를 이용하여 승률을 추정하는 모형을 제안한다. 제안된 모형을 사용하면 1983년부터 2005년까지 모든 팀의 추정승수와 실제 승수의 차가 평균적으로 4게임 미만으로 추정되며, 결론적으로 장기 페넌트레이스를 운영할 때, 한국프로야구의 승률은 수비력보다는 타력과 투수력에 의해 좌우된다는 사실을 확인할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

The goal of this paper is to provide an effective statistical model that predicted a team s winning percentage given a team s performance power in Korean Pro-Baseball. The offensive and defensive statistical model result in runs scored and runs allowed projections. The offensive model was made using OPS. Instead, defensive model were regressed on WWHIP and DER, which offer a model that forcast future winning percentage. In this study, we compare several statistical models under criterion of root mean square error(RMSE) and mean absolute deviation(MAD).In conclusion, the OPS and WWHIP produce an effect on a winning percentage of the Korean Pro-Baseball rather than DER. Also we confirmed that the difference of actual win game and estimated win game for Korean Pro-Baseball from season of 1983 to 2005 was at most 4 games using proposed regression model based on Bill James Pythagorean win-loss formula.
