국문 초록

1980년 폴란드에서 시작된 대대적인 파업으로 독립 자유노조 연대가 탄생하면서 공산주의 체제가 일대 위기에 봉착했다. 1982년 8월 31일에 절정에 이른 국민들의 저항으로 ‘폴란드 인민 공화국’이 파국으로 치닫게 되고, 이후 찾아온 국제 정세 변화와 함께 공산주의 체제 붕괴로 이어지는 추세를 더 이상은 막을 수 없게 됐다. 원탁회의에서 정한대로 1989년 6월에 부분적인 자유 총선이 실시됐다. 전혀 예상치 못하게 6월 총선에서 공산당이 참패하면서 폴란드 공산주의 체제가 붕괴하는 과정에 일대 전환점이 찾아왔다. 선거 패배와 함께 통제되지 않을 정도로 공산당이 해체되는 과정이 급격히 시작되고, 그 뒤를 이어 폴란드 정치 체제가 일거에 붕괴되어갔다. 폴란드 공산주의 체제 붕괴를 가져온 원인은 크게 4가지로 나누어 볼 수 있다. 우선 외부 요인으로 고르바초프의 등장과 페레스토로이카 도입을 들 수 있다. 나머지 폴란드 내부 요인 세 가지는 차례대로 경제면에서 붕괴 직전의 경제 상황과 민간 기업의 출현, 정치면에서 공산당의 기강 해이와 조직 와해, 사회면에서 가톨릭교회와 반체제 세력의 활동 등을 거론할 수 있다. 이 논문은 1980년대에 들어와 폴란드가 위기에 처하게 되는 원인을 고찰하고, 어떤 방식으로 공산주의 체제가 붕괴되어갔는지 그 과정을 살피는데 있다.

영문 초록

The massive strike that began in Poland in 1980 led to the creation of an Independent Self-governing Trade Union - Solidarity triggering a crisis in the communist regime. On August 31, 1982, the resistance of the people, which reached their peak, led to the end of the Polish People’s Republic and it was no longer possible to stop the trend leading to the collapse of the communist regime along with the changes in the international situation. Parliamentary elections were held in Poland in June 1989, as determined by the Round Table Agreement. Unexpectedly, a major turning point came in the course of the collapse of the communist system in Poland as the Communist Party defeated in the June election. After the defeat of the election, the process of disintegrating the Communist Party uncontrollably began, and the political system of Poland subsequently collapsed. There are four main causes of the collapse of the communist regime in Poland. First, the emergence of Gorbachev and the introduction of Perestroika as an external factor. The other three internal factors could be mentioned, in turn, in economic terms - the economic situation just before the collapse and the emergence of private companies, in terms of politics - the Communist Party’s discipline and organizational breakdown, from the social aspects, activities of the Catholic Church and dissidents.
