박물관 전시관람의 경험지속을 위한 공간구성 요인분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 박물관에서의 관람지속이 관람의 만족과 비례한다는 전제 속에서 관람의 지속을 지원하고 유도하는 공간구성요인에 대하여 알아보았다. 이를 위하여 박물관 관람지속의 가치여부는 이익의 증가와 비용의 절감 속에서 나타난다는 스테판 비트굿(Stephen Bitgood)의 이익, 비용 모델을 살펴보았으며, 비용부분에 치우친 문제점을 보완하고 개별적, 관계적 구분을 포함시켜 연구의 방법 틀을 제안하였다. 또한 관람의 시작부터 마침까지를 다섯 단계로 구분하여 각 단계별 특성에 맞는 구성요소를 조사하였다. 연구 결과 관람객이 박물관에서 추구하길 원하는 이익의 개별적 요인들은 대부분 공간 자체의 심미성과 관련되었으며, 관계적 요인들은 주로 관람자 개개인의 이야기 만들기를 통한 자발적 참여를 유도하는데 영향을 주는 공간요인들이었다. 관람을 지속하는데 투자되는 비용과 관련한 개별적 요인들은 주로 단위공간의 크기나 안전성 등 공간의 기능적 측면이었고, 관계적 측면은 타 공간과의 시각연계를 통한 관람자의 지속적인 움직임을 유도하는 요인들이었다. 연구의 결과는 박물관의 복합화 및 엔터테이먼트화 속에서, 타 문화시설과 구별되는 박물관의 본질적 기능인 전시 관람의 재미와 의미를 찾고 확장하는데 기여할 것으로 기대한다.

영문 초록

This study is assuming that continuous experiences are proportional to viewing satisfaction in a museum. For this reason, this paper researched about the factors of spacial construction which are helping visitors to their satisfaction in a museum. For this purpose, This research studied about Stephen Bitgood’s ‘benefit and cost model’ which suggested that the personal value of continuous experience are related with increasing benefits and reducing costs. however Stephen Bitgood’s studies are limited in terms of ‘benefit’ so, this paper compensated the defects in order to use the ‘benefit and cost model’ for research frame. Suggested research frame was made up of four categories. One is individual factor of benefit, another is relationship factor of benefit, the other is individual factor of cost and the last is relationship factor of cost. Besides, the paper assorted a process of museum trips to research the characteristics of each step. Firstly, in a large percentage of cases, individual factors of benefit were connected with esthetics of the space itself. Secondly, relationship factors of benefit were related with spacial elements that helped to story-making of individuals. Thirdly, individual factors of cost were almost associated with functional aspect such as dimensions or safeties. Fourthly, relationship factors of cost were involved in visitors circulation paths which are inducing malling in museums.
