드라마 ‘태양의 후예’의 가치사슬 단계별 위험관리 전략 연구

국문 초록

‘태양의 후예’는 최초로 한ㆍ중 동시 편성 방송되어 성공한 KBS의 사전제작 한류 드라마로서 가치사슬 전 과정에서 드러난 위험관리 전략을 분석한 결과, 사전제작 단계의 대본 위험은 극의 스케일 축소, 로맨스 스토리 가미, 리얼리티 강화, 중국이 꺼린 북한 장면 축소로, 투자비 조달 위기는 안정적인 제작 준비로 신뢰를 확보해 기업의 간접광고(PPL) 유치, KBS의 공동투자, 시청률 연동 인센티브 제작비 지급, 사전 시사회를 통해 해외 판권 선 판매로, 캐스팅 난항의 위기는 막 전역한 한류배우 송중기 등을 선정해 각각 극복한 것으로 분석됐다. 제작 단계에서 돌발한 영상품질 위기는 컴퓨터그래픽(CG), 특수효과, 색상 보정 등을 보강해 해소하고 촬영ㆍ편성 지연으로 야기된 중국 파트너의 투자 철수 위기는 현지 방문 설득으로 해소했다. 1차 유통 단계의 심의지연 위기는 중국 측이 요구한 북한군 출연 장면의 추가 삭제와 중국 파트너의 당국자 설득으로 극복했다. 그러나 부가 유통 단계의 중국판권 추가판매 중단 위기는 사드 문제의 미결로 인해 여전히 현안으로 남아 있다. 연구 결과는 드라마를 성공시키려면 철저한 사전제작 준비, 이해관계자들 간의 신뢰 형성, 네트워크 및 정보수집 강화 등과 결부하여 상시 모니터링을 통한 총체적 위기대처가 필요하다는 것을 시사한다.

영문 초록

Considering This study has analyzed all phases of value chain risk management strategies of ‘The Descendants of the Sun’, KBS’s popular Hallyu drama simultaneously broadcasted in Korea and China for the first time. As a result, the production company reduced the drama script risk by adding romance stories, intensifying reality, and reducing China’s unwanted North Korea scenes. The risk of investment procurement was overcome by stabilizing the company’s production preparations attracting corporate’s Product Placement and KBS’s Joint investment, paying incentive production fees in proportion to the audience rating, and selling it’s overseas copyrights through pre-production preview. Casting risk was reduced by casting a good-looking young actor named Song Jung Gi who has just been discharged from the army. The risk of program quality in the production phase was hedged by strengthening computer graphics, special effects, and color correction. The risk of investment withdrawal by Chinese partners due to delays in shooting and programming schedule was resolved by persuasion on the spot. The delay in reviewing of the first distribution phase was solved by the elimination of the North Korean scenes demanded by the Chinese authorities and persuading Chinese officials. The risk of extra copyrights sales to China in the additional stage of the distribution phase still remains pending issues of the THAAD. A drama is successful in case of coping with the total crisis combined with perfect production preparation, reinforcement trust among stakeholders, and enhancement of networking and information collection as this study has shown.
