국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 PageRank 알고리즘을 활용하여 국내 대학 및 실업 남녀 배드민턴 선수들의 랭킹을 산정하고 승률랭킹 모형과의 비교를 통해 스포츠 랭킹산정을 위한 기초자료를 제공하는 것이었다. 본 연구의 목적을 위해 대한배드민턴협회에서 제공하는 전체 528경기, 50개 팀, 356명의 경기결과를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료를 통해 PageRank와 승률기반의 랭킹을 산출하였으며, 두 모형의 관계성을 분석하기 위하여 Kendall의 순위상관분석을 수행하였다. 자료처리를 위해 NetMiner 4.0과 IBM SPSS 22.0 프로그램을 사용하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, PageRank 알고리즘을 활용하여 배드민턴 종목의 선수랭킹 산정이 가능하다. 구체적으로, 성별 및 연령대를 고려한 다양한 랭킹산정이 가능하다. 둘째, PageRank 알고리즘을 활용한 랭킹산정은 승률모형 보다 선수들의 상대적 전적을 고려한 랭킹산정에 적합하다. 셋째, PageRank 알고리즘을 활용한 랭킹과 승률모형에서 산정된 랭킹은 낮은 관계성을 나타냈다. 따라서 어떠한 랭킹모형을 선택하느냐에 따라 산정되는 랭킹의 수준은 가변적일 수 있음에 주의해야 한다. 이 연구의 결과는 국내 배드민턴 선수들의 랭킹산정을 위한 기초 연구자료로 다양한 스포츠 연구에서 활용될 수 있을 것이라 기대한다. 향후 PageRank 알고리즘은 스포츠 랭킹산정을 위한 새로운 방법론으로 스포츠 현장에 다양하게 적용될 수 있을 것이라 판단한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to calculate the rankings of national badminton players using PageRank algorithm. Specifically, the study aimed to calculate badminton rankings using PageRank algorithm and to determine how they relate to the winning percentage ranking model. A total of 528 games (50 teams, 356 players) were collected for this study. The rankings were calculated from the collected data, and Kendall s rank correlation coefficient was calculated to analyze the relationship between the two models. For the analysis, NetMiner 4.0 and IBM SPSS 22.0 programs were used. The results of the study are as follows. First, player rankings of badminton can be calculated by using PageRank algorithm. Specifically, rankings can be calculated considering gender and age range. Second, PageRank is more stable than winning percentage ranking model in calculating rankings. Third, the rankings calculated from PageRank and winning percentage ranking model are not consistent. The results of this study are expected to be used in various sports research as a basic research data for calculating rankings of national badminton players.
