한국 현대 칠보공예의 성장배경과 조형적 특성

국문 초록

본 연구는 한국 현대 칠보공예의 성장 배경을 살펴보고, 한국 칠보의 조형적 특성을 알아보기 위해 품목의 다양성, 새로운 표현기법, 복합 소재의 활용, 색채 표현 등에 관한 실증적 분석을 실시한 것이다. 한국칠보협회’를 통해 37년간 발표된 1,497점의 작품을 연구대상으로 하였으며. 시대적 변화에 따른 기능 분류, 작가의 작품에 담긴 기능별 특성, 소재, 색채 등으로 분류하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과 , 한국 현대 칠보는 벽장식(585개)과 주얼리(421개)가 차지하는 작품수가 가장 많았으며 , 주요 특징으로는 ①주얼리의 형식적 변화, ②전통과 장식성의 재해석, ③조각과 회화적 예술성의 추구 등으로 요약할 수 있다. 칠보 바탕 소재로는 99.3%가 금속을 사용하고 있었으며, 금속에서는 주얼리(57%)와 함(49.3%)이 은을 가장 많이 사용하고, 작품 특성상 주얼리와 오브제 및 벽장식으로 장식적 요소가 강한 품목은 타 재료의 혼용이 활발하게 나타났다. 주얼리는 보석(85.1%)을 혼용하고, 그 외 소재로는 나무(33.3%~93.8%)의 활용 빈도가 높았다. 시대별 주제특성을 보면 초창기에는 추상적인 작품이 주류를 이루었으나, 2000년대 부터 주제가 다양해졌으며, 꽃을 주제로 한 작품은 시대를 불문하고 비중이 높은 것이 특징이다. 또한 색채에 있어서도 빨강 또는 노랑계열의 난색을 많이 사용된 것으로 분석되었다.

영문 초록

This study conducted an empirical analysis on the diversity of items, new expression techniques, the use of composite materials, and color expression in order to examine the growth background of Korean modern enamel crafts and to examine the formative characteristics of Korean enamel. Object of analysis was 1,497 works published for 37 years by “Society of Korean Enamelists”, the analysis was performed by categorizing the functions according to the changes of the times, the characteristics of each function contained in the artist s works, materials, and colors. As a result of the analysis, Korean contemporary enamel shows the largest number of works occupied by wall decoration (585) and jewelery (421), also its main features can be summarized as follows ; ① formal change of jewelry, ② reinterpretation of tradition and decoration, ③ pursuit of sculpture and painting artistic. Metals (99.3%) were used as base material for enamels. Jewelry (57%) and silver (49.3%) were the most frequently used in metal, and the items with decorative crafts such as jewels, objet, and wall decoration were actively used mixed with other materials Jewelry was mixed with jewels (85.1%), and wood (33.3% ~ 93.8%) was frequently used with other materials. Characteristics of each period, abstract works prevailed in the early days, but the theme has been diversified since the 2000s, and the works on the theme of flowers are characterized by high frequency regardless of the times. In addition, it was analyzed that the warm colors of red or yellow series were frequently used in color.
