소년 수형자의 범죄경력에 영향을 미치는 요인 - 심리적 특성을 중심으로 -

국문 초록

이 연구는 소년 교도소에 수용된 소년 수형자를 대상으로 그들이 갖고 있는 심리적 문제를 경험적으로 분석하여 소년 수형자들의 범죄경력에 영향을 미치는 심리적 요인이 무엇인지, 그 요인들을 어떻게 개선하고 해소할 수 있을지에 대하여 논의하였다. 연구결과, 소년 수형자들의 범죄경력에 영향을 미치는 주요 요인 가운데 첫째, 인구통계학적 특성에서는 범죄행위 이전의 학교 재학여부, 그리고 재학과정에서의 성적이 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 심리적 측면의 요인들을 분석한 결과 인지적 공감 및 정서적 공감으로 설명할 수 있는 공감능력, 그리고 상대적 비교, 비난의 귀인, 책임전가 등 도덕성 등 두 요인 모두 소년 수형자들의 범죄경력에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러므로 소년 범죄 및 소년 수형자들의 범죄경력의 발전을 억제하기 위해서는 소년교도소 등 교정시설의 입소 전 대책으로 학교 부적응으로 인해 학업중단 위기에 놓인 청소년을 조기에 발견하고 즉각적인 지원을 할 수 있는 조기 관리 시스템을 구축해야 한다. 그리고 이를 통해 중, 고등학교 등 학교에서의 중도탈락률을 낮추고 문제 청소년들에 대한 학교 적응교육과 인성교육을 강화하는 것이 필요하다. 입소 후의 대책으로는 먼저, 소년 수형자들의 심리적 특성과 문제행동의 원인을 정확히 판별하는 시스템 구축하고, 이를 통해 소년 수형자들에게 적합한 인성교육 프로그램의 개발과 보급을 더욱 확대함은 물론 학과교육, 기능교육까지도 적극 병행하여 소년 범죄자들의 재사화화를 도모해야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

This study empirically analyzed the psychological problems of juvenile inmates in Youth detention center and discussed that what psychological factors affect the criminal career of juvenile inmates, and resolution or improvement of the psychological factors. As a result, among the major factors influencing the criminal career of juvenile inmates, first, demographic characteristics showed significant effects on attendance in school before criminal offenses, and grades in school. Second, as a result of analyzing psychological factors, both dependent variables that empathy ability divided into cognitive empathy and emotional empathy and morality divided into advantageous comparison, attribution of blame, and displacement of responsibility have a significant effect on the criminal career of juvenile inmates. Therefore, a preliminary management system should be provide for premature detection and immediate support of adolescents who are in crisis of school due to school maladjustment in order to prevent the development of juvenile inmates and criminal career of juvenile inmates. Furthermore, it is necessary to lower the dropout rate in middle and high schools, and to reinforce school adaptation education and character education for problem youths. The system to accurately determine the psychological characteristics and the cause of problem behaviors in juvenile inmates should be established to countermeasure problem after entering the prison. As a result, the system should be established to accurately determine the psychological characteristics and cause of problem behaviors of juvenile inmates. And the development and dissemination of suitable character education programs for juvenile inmates should be further expanded, as well as the academic and technical education should be actively performed to promote the resocialization of juvenile offenders.
