청소년 사이버불링에서 낮은 자기통제력의 영향과 통합적 논의, 그리고 성별 차이 검증

국문 초록

이 연구는 청소년들의 모바일 메신저 이용상에서의 사이버불링의 원인을 모색함에 있어 개인성향으로서 낮은 자기통제력과 함께 사이버불링 친구와의 차별접촉의 환경요인과 아울러 사이버불링의 기회요인을 포함하는 통합적 설명을 시도하고 그것을 남녀 청소년에 적용하여 과연 성별 차이가 있는지를 살펴보려는 데에 목적을 두었다. 본 연구에서는 낮은 자기통제력이 사이버불링 친구와의 차별접촉 및 사이버불링 기회와 상호작용효과를 가질 것이라고 보았고 무엇보다 낮은 자기통제력의 영향은 남녀 모두에서 나타나겠지만 그와 같은 상호작용효과에서는 남녀에 차이가 있어 여성의 경우는 낮은 자기통제력과 사이버불링 친구와의 상호작용효과가 클 것인 반면, 남성의 경우는 낮은 자기통제력과 사이버불링 기회와의 상호작용효과가 클 것이라고 예측했다. 서울, 경기 중고등학생을 조사하고 분석한 결과 본 연구결과에서는 남녀 모두에서 낮은 자기통제력의 청소년은 사이버불링을 더 저지르는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 사이버불링 친구와의 차별접촉과 사이버불링 기회는 남녀 모두에서 낮은 자기통제력보다 사이버불링에 매우 높은 영향력을 갖는 것으로 나타났는데, 그러나 그 영향력에서 남성의 경우는 사이버불링 친구와의 차별접촉보다는 사이버불링 기회가, 여성의 경우는 사이버불링 기회보다는 사이버불링 친구와의 차별접촉의 영향력이 상대적으로 더 큰 것을 제시했다. 무엇보다 본 연구의 예측대로 남성의 경우는 낮은 자기통제력과 사이버불링 기회와의 상호작용효과가 매우 높게 유의미한 것으로 나타났고, 여성의 경우는 낮은 자기통제력과 사이버불링 친구와의 상호작용효과가 매우 높게 유의미한 것으로 나타나 남녀간에 성별 차이가 있음을 제시했다.

영문 초록

This study intends to construct an integrated model including individual low self-control propensity, sico-environmental association with bullying peers and opportunity factors for explaining cyber bullying in mobile instant messenger use and test it across male and female. This study predicts that there are the interaction effects between low self-control and both association with bullying peers and opportunity factors. In addition, it is predicted that the effect of low self-control is not different across male and female, but the interaction effect between low self-control and association with bullying peers is stronger for female, while the interaction effect between low self-control and opportunity is stronger for male. Using data from middle and high school students in Seoul and Kyunggi area, result shows that the effect of low self-control on cyber bullying is significant in both male and female. In addition, it is found that the effects of both association with bullying peers and opportunity on cyber bullying are larger than low self-control in both male and female, but it is shown that the effect of association with bullying peers is stronger than opportunity for female, while the effect of opportunity is stronger than association with bullying peers for male. In addition, result shows a gender difference that consistent with hypothesis, the interaction effect between low self-control and association with bullying peers is stronger for female, while the interaction effect between low self-control and opportunity is stronger for male.
