무질서가 범죄두려움과 범죄예방활동에 미치는 영향 분석

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 무질서가 범죄두려움과 개인의 범죄예방활동에 미치는 영향이 범죄피해위험인지를 통해 매개되는지 파악하기 위한 것이다. 기존 범죄두려움 연구들의 결과에 기초할 때, 무질서는 거주민들의 범죄피해에 대한 위험인지와 두려움에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 파악되었다. 또한 개인의 범죄예방활동에도 영향을 준다. 범죄피해위험인지 역시 범죄두려움과 범죄예방활동에 상당한 영향을 주는 것으로 파악되었다. 이에 최근 논의들을 종합하여 범죄피해위험인지가 무질서의 영향을 종속변수에 매개하는지 파악해보고자 한다. 연구목적 달성을 위해 이 연구에서는 대구광역시에 거주하는 10대 이상 남녀 248명을 대상으로 설문자료를 수집하고 SPSS 25를 통해 분석하였다. 연구결과를 간략하게 설명하자면, 주요 변인들 간의 상관관계 분석에서 물리적 범죄예방활동은 무질서나 일반적 범죄두려움과는 크게 관련성을 보여주지 못했으나 구체적 범죄피해위험인지와 구체적 범죄두려움과는 상당한 관련성을 보여주었다. 다음으로 범죄피해위험인지를 예측한 회귀분석 모델에서 취약가설과 무질서 가설이 지지받는 결과를 보여주었다. 한편 범죄두려움에 대한 회귀분석에서는 인구사회학적 변수보다는 범죄피해위험인지와 무질서의 영향이 가장 큰 것으로 파악되었다. 한편 범죄예방활동에서는 무질서의 영향이 약했으나 범죄피해위험인지는 일관성 있게 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 파악되었다. 또한 흥미롭게도 성별에 따른 범죄예방활동의 차이가 분명하게 드러나 경찰의 범죄예방활동에 대한시민 홍보와 교육에 고려해야 할 변인으로 파악되었다. 전반적으로 주요 변인들에 대한 예측모형의 결과를 종합할 때 무질서는 범죄두려움에서는 직 · 간접효과를 범죄예방활동에서는 간접효과를 가지는 것으로 보인다. 보다 구체적으로 매개효과를 분석한 결과, 일반적 범죄피해위험인지 보다는 구체적 범죄피해위험인지가 범죄두려움과 범죄예방활동에 모두 일관된 유의미한 매개효과를 보여주었다. 즉, 무질서는 구체적 범죄피해위험인지를 통해 범죄두려움과 범죄예방활동에 영향을 미치는 것으로 파악된다. 이들 결과에 기초하여 정책적 논의를 하였다.

영문 초록

The purposes of this study is to examine the mediating effects of the perceive risk of victimization connected to community disorder on fear of crime and individuals’ crime prevention activities. Based on previous studies community disorder shows the most strongest impact on fear of crime and the perceived risk of victimization. In addition, it is also found that disorder have also an influence on crime prevention activities. Similarly, the perceived risk of victimization is found to be the significant factor to impact on fear of crime and crime prevention activities. Therefore, this study have attempted to test the mediating effects of perceived risk between disorder and fear of crime/crime prevention activities. To accomplish this goal, the data collected from 248 citizens over teenage living in Daegu City were used and analyzed with SPSS 25. To briefly explain the results of the study, in the analysis of correlation of major variables, physical crime prevention activities have no significant relationships with disorder and fear of crime, but there are considerable relevance to specific ‘perceived risk and fear of crime.’ Next, the predicted regression model of perceived risk showed supportive results for the disorder and vulnerability models suggested in previous criminological studies. In the analysis of fear of crime, it is consistently found as the greatest impact of disorder and perceived risk of victimization rather than demographic variables. In addition, disorder was found to have a weak effect on crime prevention activities, but the consistently significant impact of perceived risk. Interestingly, the gender differences on crime prevention activities were clearly revealed. Overall, disorder seems to have a direct/indirect effect on fear of crime and indirect effect on crime prevention activities. According to the analysis of the mediating effect, the specific perceived risk is better to connect between disorder and fear of crime/crime prevention activities.
