국문 초록

북한산성은 삼국시대부터 조선시대에 이르기까지 왕이나 도성과 관련이 깊은 곳이며, 전란에 따른 피난처, 국난 극복을 위한 보장처로서의 역할을 담당해 왔다. 이 산성은 최근까지 4차례, 행궁지는 6차례 시 발굴조사가 이루어져 많은 조사성과를 거두었고, 이는 문헌자료에 기록된 규모와 구조, 축조 및 운영에 대한 실증적인 자료를 적지 않게 확보했음을 의미한다. 북한산성에 대한 연구는 1960년대부터 간헐적으로 이루어져 왔는데, 대개는 문헌자료를 바탕으로 축성 목적과 과정, 남아 있는 현상에 대하여 다룬 예가 대부분이다. 그러다가 2013년부터 북한산성 성벽과 성랑지, 치성, 돈대, 수구에 대하여 본격적인 발굴조사가 시행되었고, 중흥산성의 성벽도 확인되는 성과를 거두었다. 그리고 2010년 이후부터 심포지엄이나 학술세미나가 7차례 정도 열리면서 점차 많은 연구자들이 관심을 갖고 다양한 연구를 진행하게 되었다. 행궁지조사와 연구는 북한산성과 함께 다루어져 왔는데, 2009년 행궁지 종합정비기본계획이 수립되었고, 그에 따라 2011년부터 정밀조사가 진행되었다. 조사결과, 내 외전지와 내 외 행각지, 추정보각지 등이 확인되었고, ‘己巳’ ‘辛訓’ ‘戎’ ‘別右’자 등의 명문기와가 출토되었다. 행궁지를 주제로 한 학술심포지엄도 2회 개최되었으며, 학위논문도 집필되고 있다. 가장 시급하게 이루어 져야 할 연구는 발굴성과를 분야별로 정리하고 분석하는 일인데, 여기에서는 네 가지로 나누어 제언하고자 한다. 첫째, 북한산성의 축조기법을 보다 면밀하게 연구해야 하겠다. 둘째, 축성에 참여한 기술자와 사용된 도구 및 장비의 발전 양상 연구가 전통건축사적인 관점에서 진행될 필요가 있다. 셋째, 숙종대 축성된 지방 산성들에 대한 조사와 연구도 필요하다. 넷째, 출토 유물과 관련된 연구와 분석이 진행되어야 한다.

영문 초록

Bukhansanseong Fortress had been deeply related to kings and capital cities of the period ranging from the Three Kingdoms Era to the Joseon Dynasty. There had been four times of research on Bukhansanseong Fortress and six times of research on the site of Haenggung that was a temporary place when the king visited Bukhansanseong Fortress, with a lot of significant research achievements. This means researchers have secured empirical data on the size, structure, building method, and operation of Bukhansanseong Fortress and the Haenggung recorded in the literature. Research on Bukhansanseong Fortress had been performed occasionally since 1990, most of which were done based on the literature focusing on building purpose, process and remaining site. Full-scale research of Bukhansanseong Fortress has been performed since 2013 focusing on ramparts, site of Seongrang(a small house built inside the rampart for gatekeepers), Chiseong(a balcony-type space attached to the rampart for defense and attack), Dondae(defense facility to shoot arrows, and cannons), and Sugu(stone drainage). Study and research of Haenggung site have been performed on Bukhansanseong Fortress, which were six times of excavation research since 2011. As a result, it was found that the building site identical with literature records were found along with various patterned roof tiles excavated. The most urgent research to do is to summarize and analyze excavation achievements by sector. Here are four suggestions. First, the building method of Bukhansanseong Fortress should be studied meticulously. Second, it is necessary to investigate technical builders who participated in building the fortress and the development pattern of tools and equipment used. Third, it is necessary to study fortresses built in the period of King Sukjong, by which we can grasp the characteristics and changing patterns of fortresses in the late Joseon Dynasty and they would be able to get recognized as the value of the world heritage. Fourth, studies related to the excavated relics should be done.
