학제간 융합연구자의 시행착오 극복을 위한 성공적 융합연구 방법 제안

국문 초록

우리가 사회가 직면한 다양한 변화와 문제들에 대한 해답을 찾기 위해 시도되고 있는 학제간 융합연구는 단일 학문에서 고착된 이론과 해석을 떠나, 타 학문에서 발전되어 온 새로운 측면의 시각과의 접목이라는 장점을 갖고 있다. 실제로 2009년부터 한국연구재단에서도 국내 연구자들의 학제간 융합연구를 촉진하기 위한 지원을 해오고 있다. 그런데, 학제간 융합연구가 갖는 개념적 우월성에 비해, 실제 연구 현장에서는 다양한 어려움들이 발생해왔다. 본 연구는 한국연구재단 학 제간 융합연구지원 사업에 참여한 연구자들을 대상으로 한 질적 연구 방법을 통해 그들이 실제로 겪은 학제간 융합연구의 어려움과 그 어려움을 극복해낸 방법을 정리하였다. 특히, 서로 다른 학문을 견지해 온 연구자들이 오랜 기간 쌓아온 지식과 경험이 서로 융합되기 위해서는 연구자 간 이해와 융합을 위한 노력이 수반되어야 한다는 점과 순수한 학문적 융합의 비중이 가시적 연구결과물에 집중되는 정도에 비해 상대적으로 적은 비중을 차지하고 있는 점은 향후 학제간 융합연구자들이 주의깊게 고려해야 할 선행 연구자들의 발자취라고 볼 수 있다. 학제간 융합연구는 매년 새로운 연구자들의 참여가 이어지고 있으나, 선행연구자들이 겪은 경험이 공유되지 못해 모든 연구자에게 유사한 시행착오가 반복되는 아쉬운 모습을 드러내고 있다. 본 연구의 결과를 통해 향후 학제간 융합연구자들에게 이전 연구자들의 경험이 공유되어 발전된 지혜로 이어지기를 바란다.

영문 초록

Interdisciplinary convergent researches, which are attempted to find answers to the various changes and problems we face in society, have the advantage of combining with new perspectives that have been developed in other disciplines, beyond theories and interpretations fixed in a single discipline. In fact, the National Research Foundation of Korea has been supporting the researches of domestic researchers to promote interdisciplinary convergent researches since 2009. However, in contrast to the conceptual superiority of interdisciplinary convergent research, various difficulties have arisen in the actual research field. This study summarizes the difficulties of the interdisciplinary convergent research and the ways of overcoming the difficulties, using the qualitative research methods on the researchers who participated in the interdisciplinary research support project. The points that can be considered as the footsteps of previous researchers that should be carefully considered by interdisciplinary convergent researchers in the future are that it is necessary for researchers to understand and converge with each other in order to fuse knowledge and experience that have accumulated over a long period of time and that the proportion of pure academic convergence is relatively small compared to the degree of convergence to visible research results. Interdisciplinary convergent research continues to attract new researchers every year, but the experience of previous researchers is not shared so that similar trial and error are repeated to all researchers. I hope that the results of this study will lead to future wisdom that the experiences of previous researchers will be shared with future interdisciplinary researchers.
