국문 초록

이 글은 학문 간의 대화가 서로를 발전시킬 수 있다는 전제 아래, 조각가 홍순모의 예술 행위의 특성들이 기독교교육에 주는 통찰들을 다룬다. 홍순모의 조각은 한국적 정서를 담고 있으며, 이 땅 민중의 삶을 나타내고 있으며, 그 표현에 있어서도 내용에 자연스럽게 어울리는 소재와 방법을 사용하고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 홍순모는 예술을 자신의 삶과 분리시키지 않고 하나의 구도행위로 보았다. 이같은 홍순모의 예술관과 예술 행위는 기독교교육의 현실과 학문 연구와 관련해서 몇 가지 통찰력을 제공한다. 먼저, 기독교교육은 고유한 민족성을 지닌 학습자의 정서를 고려하면서, 학습자의 삶과 분리되어 있지도 않은 현실을 가상하고 기독교교육을 수행하지는 않았는지 반성하는 삶 밀착적인 교육의 방향을 시사한다. 나아가‘기독교교육이 무엇을 위한 것이냐’ 하는 그 근본 목적은 삶과 신앙을 통합시키는 성격을 지녀야 함을 일러준다. 그리고 교육을 교수의 입장에서 행하는 까닭에 학습자의 특성을 인정하지 않는 교육으로부터, 학습자의 다양성을 고려함으로써 교육의 내용과 방법이 하나가 되도록 하는 교육을 해야 함을 상기시킨다.

영문 초록

This paper, which begins form the premise that dialogue between different scholarships can be mutually beneficial, examines the main characteristics of sculptor Soon-moh Hong’s artistic activities and the insights they offer to Christian Education. The sculptures of Soon-moh Hong embodies Korean sensitivity, expresses the life of the people of this land, and uses matter and method that is naturally becoming of the content in its expression. In addition, the paper does not separate art from the life of the artist but sees it as an act of searching after truth. Such artistic activities by Soon-moh Hong leads us to reflect on the sentiment of a learner who embodies the unique national spirit in the field of Christian Education. Furthermore, it prompts us to reconsider if we aren’t guilty of having conducted Christian Education under the mistaken premise of a non-existent reality that is separate from the life of the leaner and to make a resolve to conduct an education inseparable from life in the future. The paper argues that, for fundamental issues such as the purpose of Christian Education, life and faith need to be integrated. In so doing, the paper affirms that a transition from a teacher oriented education, which does not take into account the learner’s individ-uality, to a learner oriented education that takes into account the learner’s diversity can be achieved.
