국문 초록

금년은 칼빈 출생 500주년이다. 이를 기념하면서, 이 글은 종교개혁자 칼빈이 어떻게 형성되고 무엇을 하였으며, 현재까지 어떻게 이어져 왔는지를 보고자 한다. 물론 이것은 칼빈 이후의 개혁교회의 역사나 칼비니즘의 역사, 또한 칼빈에 관한 해석이나 연구사는 아니다. 오히려 우리가 칼빈의 사상과 사역들속에서 발견하는, 독특하게‘칼빈적’이라고 부를 수 있는 것의 형성과 전승과정을 보려는 것이다. 그리고 21세기를 맞는 현재, 그것이 오늘 지구적이고, 또한 한국적인 상황 속에서 어떻게 재조명되고, 해석되어야 하는지, 어떻게 발전시켜야 하는지에 관심한다. 이 글은 가장‘칼빈적’인 것들을 세 가지로 보고, 각각 그것의 현재적 의미를 추구한다. 첫째, 신 중심주의이다. 그것은 물신주의와 세속주의에 사로잡힌 현대인들과 교회에게 진정한 초월적 영성을 회복시켜 준다. 둘째, 개혁적 영성과 실천이다. 그것은 분리되고 단편적인 삶을 사는 현대인들에게서 지식과 실천, 신앙과 삶, 영성과 도덕성, 피안과 차안, 안과 밖이 분리되지 않는 존재의 통전적 일치를 회복시켜 준다. 셋째, 사회적 관심과 참여이다. 그것은 신자유주의의 경제적 파산으로 인해 더욱 피폐해진 가난한 나라들과 계층들에 대한 적극적 관심을 촉구하고, 은행, 금융회사, 탐욕적 투자자들, 그들과 결탁한 정부에 대한 감시와 발언, 규제 등을 통해서, 세상 속에서의 하나님의 정의와 평화를 위한 노력을 가능하게 해준다.

영문 초록

In commemoration of 500th year anniversary of the birth of Jean Calvin, this treatise examines the formation of Calvin the reformer and his traditions. Certainly this is nither the history of the Reformed or the Calvinism after the Reformer, nor the history of the interpretations or studies about Calvin. The study seeks what are the most calvinian concepts and issues we can find in the thought and ministry of Calvin, and how his thought succeeds until now in France, Swiss, other European countries and North America. This treatise also suggests how we can reinterpret and develope the ‘calvinians’in worldly and korean situations of 21st century as follows: First is the iconoclastic theocentrism that Calvin’s “A Dieu seul la gloire”implicate. This restores the transcendent spirituality to the modern persons and churches captured by secularism and mammonism, Second, the reforming spirituality and practice. They provide to the modern persons and churches suffering from the broken and separated lives, the integrity or unity of being in which are not separated knowledge and practice, faith and life, spirituality and morality, heaven and earth, eternity and the presence, inside and outside etc.. Finally the social concern and participation. They push for the church’s concern to the more impoverished countries and classes by the economic failure of Neocapitalism, and make possible, in the world, Justice and Peace of God by means of surveillance, remark, control to the actions of voracious banks, financial companies, investors and even the government in collusion with them.
