국문 초록

본고는 프랑스 정치가 쉴리의 ‘원대한 구상’으로 알려진 17세기 초반 경 유럽의 정치적 통합계획을 주제로 삼고 있다. 앙리 4세의 재정장관인 쉴리는 유럽의 평화를 확립하기 위해 원대한 구상을 제안하였다. 본고의 문제의 의식은 유럽사에서 지속적으로 표현되었던 유럽 정치적 통합계획이 유럽통합의 역사에서 차지하고 있는 중요성을 강조하려는 목적에서 출발하고 있다. 본고의 구성은 다음과 같다. II장에서는 쉴리 이전 유럽의 정치적 통합 계획들의 내용과 특징들을 개괄적으로 고찰함으로써 쉴리의 구상을 역사적 연속성 속에서 바라보려는 시도를 할 것이다. III장에서는 글의 핵심 주제인 쉴리의 원대한 구상을 다각적으로 다룰 것이다. 쉴리와 그가 살았던 시대적 배경, 원대한 구상의 작성 동기, 원대한 구상의 구체적 내용, 원대한 구상의 영향과 역사적 의미 등이 이 장에서 상세하게 기술될 것이다. 결론에서는 쉴리의 원대한 구상의 의미와 유럽통합 구상의 역사적 연속성이 가지는 의미를 설명할 것이다.

영문 초록

This paper focuses on the plan for the political integration of Europe around the early 17th century. In order to establish peace in Europe, Sully, the Minister of Finance of Henry IV, proposed the plan known as ‘the Grand Design of Henry the Great.’ This article aims at emphasizing the importance of the european integration projects in history for the development of european integration. In Chapter II, we will attempt to look at Sully’s plan in historical continuity by outlining the contents and features of the European political integration plans before Sully. In Chapter III, we will deal with the Grand Design of Sully from various perspectives. Sully and the times in which he lived, the motive of writing the Grand Design, the concrete details of the Grand Design, historical effects and implications of the Grand Design, etc. will be described in detail in this chapter. In conclusion, we will explain the meaning of Sully’s Grand Design and the importance of the historical continuity of European integration plans for the development of European Integration.
