국문 초록

기원전 600년 이래 알프스 남동부와 이탈리아 북부지역에서 발생한 시츄라 예술은 현재까지 집중적 논의의 대상이다. 청동도기에 표현된 각각의 비유적인 장면들은 해당 지역주민의 관습, 생활방식 또는 역사적 사전들을 표현함과 동시에 에트루리아 예술의 모티브와 아나톨리아 및 메소포타미아의 오래된 시각 예술 작품과도 유사하다. 이미지의 주요 기능은 장식된 물건 소유자의 위치를 사회의 지배계층에 알리는 것이다. 물건의 본래 목적과 더불어 당대의 지역적 문화적 요소가 시각화된 내용에 영향을 미쳤다는 것을 의심할 여지가 없지만, 시공간을 통해 다른 문명과 문화를 연결하려는 반복적인 주제와 시각적인 비유들도 나타난다. 예술품에서 드러나는 이러한 유사점들은 위에 적용된 보편적인 특성뿐만 아니라 선사시대와 고대 지중해의 지배계층의 삶의 현실에 의해 설명될 수 있다.

영문 초록

Situla art occurring in northern Italy and the southeast alpine area from 600 B.C. has been an intensively discussed phenomenon. The figurative scenes on the eponymous bronze vessels are often understood as direct representations of the local people’s customs, lifestyle or even of historical events in the area of their discovery. An examination of the scenes based on their general themes demonstrates, however, that despite the inclusion of regional elements, there is a huge similarity with motifs of Etruscan art and even with older visual artwork from Anatolia and Mesopotamia. Although it is possible that the depicted images were connected locally with individual narratives, their main function was to communicate the affiliation of the owner of the decorated objects to the elite stratum of the society. There is no doubt that regional and cultural elements as well as the purpose of the decorated object influenced the visual content, there are, however, recurring themes or visual tropes that connect different civilizations and cultures through space and time. These similarities might be explainable by their universal character that applied to the ideals, but also to the reality of lives of the elite members in the prehistoric and ancient Mediterranean.
