국문 초록

최근 범죄예방 및 안전은 학생들의 특별한 공간요구를 충족시키기 위해 중요한 문제가 되어왔다. 본 연구의 목적은 대학생들의 공동체의식(Sense of Community: SOC)과 사회적 교류에 대한 범죄예방환경설계의 효과를 평가하는 것이다. 문헌고찰은 높은 수준의 공동체의식은 안전한 환경에 기여해 왔으 며, 이는 대학생들 간 강한 사회적 유대관계를 형성하는 상호작용하는 장소를 만들어 왔음을 밝혀내었다. 공동체의식과 범죄예방환경설계(Crime Prevention through Environmental Design; CPTED)와 관련, 개인특성과의 교차검증은 성별, 학년, 활동장소, 개인성격등과 관련 있음을 나타냈다. 선형회귀분석은 CPTED 요인이 학생들의 공동체의식과 사회적 활동에 영향을 미침을 밝혀내 었다. 다중회귀분석 또한, 편리하고 깨끗한 환경 및 충분한 조명 및 밝기가 사회적 환경형성에 주요 변수임을 나타내었다. 중요도-만족도분석(ImportancePerformance Analysis; IPA)은 CPTED와 관련된 대부분의 요소가 높은 중요 도-만족도 일치 수준을 발견하였다. 결론적으로 본 연구는 대학캠퍼스에 대한 사려 깊은 범죄예방환경설계(CPTED) 적용이 학생들 간 사회적 교류지지와 다양한 학문적 목적을 뒷받침하기 위해 필요함을 제시하고 있다.

영문 초록

Crime prevention and safety issues have been major concern in educational facilities to serve students’ particular spatial needs. This study aimed at evaluating the effects of physical environment by CPTED on their perceived sense of community(SOC) and social interaction. Literature review contended that high level of SOC contributed to the safe environment, thus making a better interactive place to build strong social ties among college students. The χ 2 analysis on personal characteristics by SOC and CPTED indicated there exists statistical significance regarding gender, grade, type of activity area, and personality. A linear regression analysis showed that CPTED factor was statistically related to student’s SOC. Additional stepwise regression analysis also noted that the primary predictors in the formation of sense of community were ‘convenient and clean environment’ and ‘enough lighting and illumination’. An IPA analysis found that keeping up current good environmental attributes was supportive from the perspective of importance and satisfaction. In conclusion, the study suggests that the careful application of CPTED into campus area be needed to support social interaction and to provide diverse other academic purposes.
