CPTED 적용에 있어서 색채활용에 대한 시론적 연구

국문 초록

불과 몇 년 사이에 우리 사회는 중앙정부가 주도하는 셉테드 사업과 전국의 지자체를 중심으로 하는 셉테드 시범사업이 범죄두려움 감소와 범죄의 양적 감소를 위한 목적으로 진행되었고, 최근에도 활발한 관련 연구와 적용을 위한 논의가 이루어지고 있다. 그러나 셉테드 사업의 주요 전략 중에서 가장 빈번히 적용하는 수단 중 하나가 낡고 쇠퇴한 골목과 공간, 시설에 대한 형형 색색의 벽화그리기였음을 부인할 수 없다. 경관의 조화와 이용자의 만족을 위해 색채를 적용한 도색작업은 순기능도 있지만, 범죄예방을 위한 색채의 적용 목적보다는 주변 경관과의 조화와 기능적, 심미적 측면이 강조되고 있음은 주지의 사실이다. 셉테드 원리에 기반한 전략 중에 색채를 활용하기 위한 노력은 일본에서 시도하였던 전략을 토대로 2008년 서울 강남구에서 푸른색 보안등 설치 사업 으로 진행된 바 있다. 그러나 파란색 광원의 보안등이 범죄에 대한 두려움을 감소시키고, 범죄발생을 실질적으로 감소시킨 구체적이고도 과학적인 연구결 과는 없다. 다만 이러한 노력은 파란색이 주는 색채의 특성과 감성적 측면, 미적반응, 생리적 영향 등이 해당지역에 거주하는 주민과 이용자가 느끼기에 범죄예방의 노력과 관심이 이 지역에 집중되고 있다는 이미지를 제공해줌으 로서 얻는 심리적 안정감 향상을 기대하는 것이라 볼 수 있다.이 연구에서는 색채가 심리에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 색채심리에 대한 이론적 접근과 선행연구 고찰을 통해 심리학적 관점 및 범죄예방적 관점 에서 색채의 의의를 논의하였다. 색채에 반응하는 인간의 심리적 기제를 이해 하고, 색채의 시각적인 효과를 고려하여 환경지각, 환경인지 그리고 태도에 대한 문헌분석과 색채심리 및 환경심리 분야의 선행연구를 정리하여 셉테드의 원리에 부합하는 색채를 적용하기 위한 시사점을 제시하였다. 향후 국내에 서도 활발히 진행 중인 셉테드 사업에 있어 지역 및 환경 그리고 시설과 공간의 디자인에 있어 자연적 감시기능 향상을 위해 주목성과 명시성을 높이고, 영역성 강화를 위해 통일성과 차별성을 적절히 안배할 필요가 있다. 또한 활동성 강화를 위해 주변 경관과의 조화는 물론, 유지·관리의 효율성을 고려하 고, 명료성 및 가독성 향상이 안전감 향상과 균형적으로 고려되어야 한다.

영문 초록

In our society, within a few years, a CPTED project the central government led and a CPTED demonstration project focused on local authorities throughout the country was under way for reduction of the fear and the amount of crime. Also recently, related research and discussions for application are actively taking place. However, it can not be denied that one of the major strategies of CPTED project features old, weak alleys, and spaces and facilities painted variously. As an effort for using color of CPTED principle based strategies, Gangnam-gu in Seoul has attempted to install blue street lights in 2008 based on the strategy Japan attempted. There has been no specific and scientific research showing that blue street lights reduce the fear of crime and effectively reduce the incidents of crime. It is judged, however, that as the color characteristics, emotional aspect, aesthetic response, physiological effect, etc. provide the image for the residents and users in the relevant areas to feel that the efforts for crime prevention are focused on their areas, the improvement in mental stability of the residents or users is expected. This study discussed the color from the psychological viewpoint and the color from the viewpoint of crime prevention through a theoretical approach to color and examination of advanced research to determine the effect of color on psychology, and by understanding the psychological mechanism of human beings responding color summarizing the advanced research of the fields of the perception of environment, the recognition of environment, the literary approach to attitude, color psychology, and environmental psychology, considering visual effects of color, suggested its implications for applying the color meeting the principle of CPTED. This implied the enhancement of attractiveness of color and explicitness for improving natural detector function and proper assignment of unity and differentiation for reinforcing territoriality and improvement of clarity and legibility for the enhancement of efficiency of harmonization with, maintenance and management of surrounding scenery for revitalization of activities in the design of areas, environments, facilities and spaces of the CPTED project in active progress domestically as well.
