울진 효행설화의 구성방식과 전승의식

국문 초록

울진에서 채록한 42편의 효행설화는 두 유형으로 나누어진다. 동기나 과정의 정당성에 입각하여 倫理를 公理에 부합시키고자 하는 自己主導型효행설화와 대칭적 세계관에 입각하여 효행의 근원을 파헤치고 낭만주의적 표현방법으로 구현하고자 하는 天地感通型 효행설화가 그것이다. 두 유형에서 ‘a+b+c…n’ 방식이 아주 흔하게 나타난다. ‘a+b+c…n’ 방식이 경주이씨 집성촌의 설화 구술 형태인 ‘엄동설한+X→해결’ 에서는 ‘X’부분에 활용되기도 한다. 누구나 익힐 수 있는 방식이 ‘a+b+c…n’ 이기 때문에 화자들이 즐겨 활용한다는 언급이 가능하다. 구술적 성격을 주목할 때, 울진 효행설화에서는 화자와 효행주체가 길항 관계를 형성한다. 화자는 命旌論의 공리주의적 시각을 지향하고 효행 주체는 주술적 감성으로 대칭적 세계관을 지향하기 때문에 이렇게 볼 수 있다. 길항 관계가 역동성 내지 입체성을 담보한다고 해도 좋을 것 같다.

영문 초록

42 filial conduct folktales extracted in Uljin are divided into two types. Self initiated filial conduct folktales which coincide with a self-evident truth based on the justification of a motive or process, and the universal communication type of filial conduct folktales which try to dig up the ground of filial conduct and embody it with a romantic expressive method based on a symmetric world view are those. In two types, the composition method of ‘a+b+c…n’ is most frequently shown. The composition method of ‘a+b+c…n’ can be utilized in X of the method of ‘the cold of winter+X→ solution’ which is the folktale reproduction method of Kyoungjuyissi compilation village. Because ‘a+b+c…n’ is the composition method everyone can learn, it can be said that speakers usually use it. When we focus on the oral character of it, speakers and the subjects of filial conduct form a rivalry relation in filial conduct folktales of Uljin. We can say like this because speakers point to a utilitarian viewpoint of fatalism and the subjects of filial conduct point to symmetric world view with witchcraft sentiment. It will be nice that a riverly relation guarantees dynamic and third dimension.
