국문 초록

제주도의 정의읍성은 입지적으로 중요한 위치에 있어 왜구의 침입이 잦은 곳이었다. 각 방향의 중심부에 성문이 있는 방형으로 외부에서 보면 평지형이고 내부는 분지형으로 밖에서 보면 읍성이 시야에 들어오지 않는 장점이 있다. 정의읍성의 주산은 모지오름이 되고, 영주산이 진산역할을 한다. 논동산을 안산으로 하고 천미천이 읍성을 환포하여 흐르고 있다. 안산의 능선인 갑선이 오름과 아심전이가 미미하여 산등성이에 돌무더기를 쌓고 남문에 액막이 거욱 대를 만들어 비보로 활용하고 있다. 정의읍성의 수계는 천미천이 활모양으로 회전하는 순간 역수지세가 되어 생기 충만한 명당의 조건이 된다. 객사는 음래양수로 백호선익에 가깝게 배치되어 있으며, 동헌은 풍수사상을 고려하여 음양배합을 이루도록 배치하였다. 선현들이 추구했던 생태환경론적 토지관과 여러 가지 사상이 반영된 정의 읍성을 분석함으로써 선인들의 자연관과 지혜를 배우고 제주도를 보존하는 정신적 지주 역할을 할 수 있는 의미 있는 연구가 될 것이다.

영문 초록

Jeonguiupseong fortress in Jeju island is located in Geographically significant point so there were invasions of Japanese pirate raiders so many times. This fortress is the defensive type that has castle gates in center of each direction. It has an advantage of being invisible to human sight from the outside because the castle has the shape of basin. The main mountain of Jeonguiupseong becomes Moji Mt. YeongJu Mt. playing the role of Jinsan. padd hill is regarded as Ansan and Cheonmicheon surrounds and flows around this fortress. The pile of stones has been heaped on the ridge, utilizing Geoukttae which is a stone pagoda, supplemental substance for exorcism, in front of the south gate because Gapsseonoreum and Askimjeonyee, the ridge of this mountain, are not well-defined. The water system of this fortress becomes the condition of propitious site full of energy when cheonmicheon spins like a shape of bow. Although the organs are located depending on Baekhosunik, the Donghun is located based on the theory of Fengshui that shows the balance of yin and yang . Analyzing Jeongui-upsung fortress that reflects environmental view for land and variety of idea will make us learn the wisdom of ancient sages and play the role of emotional prop. It will definitely be the meaningful study.
