근대전환기 경상감영의 변동과 훼손

국문 초록

근대전환기 대구는 경상감영 소재지로서 경상도의 중심지로서의 위상을 갖게 되었다. 그 경상감영의 공간과 건물도 일정한 크기를 가졌다. 1907년 당시 경상감영의 공간은 감영, 내아, 객사 등으로 구분되었다. 그러나 1905년 러일전쟁 시기 대구에 일본의 침탈이 본격화되면서 대구읍성이 훼철되고, 경상감영이 크게 훼손되었다. 그에 따라 대구의 풍광은 왜곡된 형태로 변동되었다. 조선 시대 경상도 수부로서의 상징과 권위를 가졌던 경상감영은 일제의 식민지배 기구의 공간이 되었다. 경상감영의 중심에 십자도로(교차로)가 건설되어 경상감영의 형태조차 파악하기 어렵게 되었다. 또 경상감영에는 경상북도도청, 뢰경관, 일본 헌병대, 대구경찰서, 대구우체국, 조선식산은행 대구지점, 일제 관변단체 등이 일제 폭압 및 지배기구가 빼곡히 설치되었다. 그 대신 경상감영(관찰부)의 관아를 사용하던 대구광문사, 공립소학교 등 계몽운동단체와 교육시설은 일제의 폭압 및 지배기구의 배치로 인해 밀려나고 말았다. 따라서 경상감영(관찰부)의 일제 지배 기구화는 대구가 일제의 식민도시로 전락했음을 실질적으로 보여주는 전형적인 풍광이었다.

영문 초록

In the transition to modernity, Daegu where Gyeongsang Gamyeong was located came to have its status as the center of Gyeongsang Province. Gyeongsang Gamyeong’s space and building had some fixed size. In 1907, Gyeongsang Gamyeong’s space was divided into Gamyeong, Naea, and Gaeksa. But in 1905 during Russo-Japanese Wars, Japan’s invasion to Daegu was decisively done, and as a result, Daegu Eupseong was damaged, and Gyeongsang Gamyeong was severely destroyed. This did change the scene of Daegu after all. Gyeongsang Gamyeong equipped with a symbol and authority as the head of Gyeongsang during Chosun became the Japanese Empire’s organization for colonial ruling. The crossroad was built in the center of Gyeongsang Gamyeong, which made it even hard to see the form of Gyeongsang Gamyeong. In addition, Gyeongsang Gamyeong became packed with the Japanese Empire’s oppressive and ruling organs, for example, Gyeongsang Provincial Office, Roegyeonggwan, Japanese Military Police, Daegu Police Office, Daegu Post Office, Chosun Siksan Bank Daegu Branch, and the Japanese Empire’s government groups. Instead, enlightening movement groups or educational facilities including Daegu Gwangmunsa or public sohakgyo using the government office of Gyeongsang Gamyeong (Gwanchalbu) were driven out with the arrangement of the Japanese Empire’s oppressive and ruling organs. It implies that Gyeongsang Gamyeong (Gwanchalbu) becoming ruling organs for the Japanese Empire was a typical scene practically revealing the fact that Daegu became degraded as a colonial city of the Japanese Empire.
