국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 예비교사들의 교직소명감, 자아존중감, 교직인성과의 관계를 조사하는 것이다. 이를 위한 구체적인 연구 문제는 예비교사들의 성별, 종교의 유무, 대학성적, 자아존중감 수준, 교직인성(내적 인성, 사회적 인성, 공동체적 인성) 수준에 따른 교직소명감의 차이와 조사한 독립변인들이 교직소명감을 얼마나 설명하고 있는가를 조사하는 것이다. 연구의 대상은 서울, 충북, 경북, 전북 지역의 유아, 초등, 중등예비교사 총 512명이었다. 연구의 결과는 예비교사들의 성별, 종교의 유무, 대학성적, 자아존중감 수준, 교직인성 수준에 따라 교직소명감은 모두 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 독립변인들 중 예비교사들의 교직소명감을 설명하는 변인은 성별, 종교의 유무, 사회적 인성과 공동체적 인성이었으며, 이들은 교 직소명감을 30.2% 설명하는 것으로 나타났다. 연구 결과는 교사교육에서 예비교사들의 교직소명감, 자아존중감, 교직인성의 개발의 필요함을 시사하였으며, 이와 관련된 구체적인 교사교육의 방법과 정책이 강구되어야 한다는 논의도 제기되었다.

영문 초록

The present study aims to investigate the relationships among sense of calling to teaching, self-esteem, and character of preservice teachers. Specific research questions under the research objective are: what are the differences in preservice teachers’ sense of calling to teaching by gender, status of having a religion, grades, the level of self-esteem, and the levels of intrapersonal character, interpersonal character, and communal character; and how much of the sense of calling to teaching are accounted for by the independent variables. Study participants consisted of 512 preservice teachers of the early childhood, primary, and secondary education in the regions of Seoul, Chungbuk, Gyeongbuk, and Jeonbuk. The results showed that preservice teachers’ sense of calling was different at a statistically significant level by all of the following: gender, the status of having a religion, grades, the level of self-esteem, and the levels of intrapersonal character, interpersonal character, and communal character. Among the independent variables, the variables that explained the sense of calling to teaching were gender, the status of having a religion, interpersonal character, and communal character, which together accounted for 30.2% of the sense of calling. The study results suggest the need for development of sense of calling, character, and self-esteem for preservice teachers, and the issue of preparing the specific measures and policies for teacher education in relation to the need was also raised.
