논설텍스트에서의 ‘반박(反駁)’ 기능에 대한 기술적(記述的) 고찰 - 대학생 토론 후 최종입장 분석을 중심으로-

국문 초록

본고는 형식논리학과 대화·화용론에서의 반박 기법이 작문 영역에 어떻게 적용되어야 하는가에 대해 고찰하고, 대학생의 토론 후 논설텍스트에 나타나는 반박의 양상들을 조사했다. 연구 방법으로는 툴민의 논변 도식을 활용하여 반박 검증 프로토콜을 창안하고 이를 통해 작문의 필자가 반박을 생산하는 방식을 이해하려고 하였고, 동시에 실제 대학생들의 글에 나타나는 반박의 양상과의 비교 검토를 실시하였다. 한국 대학생들의 반박 양상은 우선 글의 전개 방식에서 3가지의 반박 유형을 가지고 있었고, 상대 주장과 반박의 관계에서는 4가지의 반박 유형을 추출하였다. 또한 하위 반박 유형 21가지를 학생 글에서 도출하고 이를 반박 검증 프로토콜의 4가지 검증 지점들과 비교 하였다. 그 결과 툴민의 논변 도식에서의 ‘근거’(D), ‘정당한 이유’(W), ‘지 지’(B), ‘예외조건과 반박’(R)이 반박의 지점으로 작동함을 확인할 수 있었고, 21가지의 반박 유형들과의 연관성도 부분적으로 검증할 수 있었다. 또한 보수와 진보라는 성향과 필자의 입장 그리고 반박의 방식이 서로 연관되어 있음도 자료를 통해 제시할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This study examined how refutation techniques in the form of formal logic, and pragmatics of communication should apply to writing areas, and examined aspects of refutation in essay texts of university students after debate. In the study, the research methodology was devised to create a rebuttal of the refutation s verification protocol by exploiting Toulmin argument schematic, and to understand how the writers of composition of the essay produce the refutation. Likewise, three types of the refutation in essays of Korean university students were found and also four types of the refutation between the rebuttal and the argument. In addition, the 21 subtypes of refutation which was derived from students essays were compared with the four points of the refutation verification protocol. ‘Data’(D), ‘Warrant’(W), ‘Backing’(B) and ‘Rebuttal’(R) In Toulmin argument schematic were verified that there was a partial association with the 21 subtypes of refutation. Moreover, the data in this study showed that the orientations between the conservative and the progressive, the author, the way of refutation relate to each other.
