방어기제 측면에서 고려속요를 이해하는 의미 고찰

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 고려속요에 나타난 시적 자아의 심리를 프로이트의방어기제에 기대어 고찰하였다. 작품에 반영된 시적 자아의 심리를 세밀하게이해함으로써 작품의 당대적 정서를 현재 독자들이 공감할 수 있도록 하는것이 연구의 목적이다. 이는 고전문학의 가치가 현재적으로 지속 계승되어야하는 목적을 실현하는 방안의 하나이기도 하다. 본 연구는 고려속요에 반영된 당대의 작가나 향유층의 정서가 현재의 독자정서와 같은 맥락에서 공감되고 소통될 수 있는 방안을 심리학의 방어기제방법에 기대어 분석하면서 살펴보고자 하였다. 방어기제는 지그문트 프로이트가 설계하고 그의 딸 안나 프로이트가 체계화 한 심리학의 한 방법으로 인간이 욕구와 현실이 배치되었을 때 갖게 되는 불안이나 좌절 등 부정적인 감 정으로부터 자신을 심리적으로 보호하기 위하여 무의식적으로 작동되는 심리기제이다. 고려속요에는 시적 화자의 욕망이나 욕구가 충족되지 않아 생기는 불안이나 갈등 등으로 인하여 생기는 부정적인 정서를 줄이고 완화하려는 무의식적심리가 나타난다. 시적 화자의 심리에 작동된 기제를 프로이트의 방어기제 차원에서 고찰하고, 이를 작품 이해의 한 방법으로 활용할 때 작품의 당대성과현재적 의미의 상호소통이 수월해진다. 방어기제는 동서고금 인간의 심리에 보편적으로 적용될 수 있는 기제이므로 이를 통하여 고전의 당대적 정서와 현재적 독자 정서가 상호소통 가능성이 높아진다. 이러한 연구는 고려속요를 새롭게 이해하는 방안이 될 것이다.

영문 초록

This research studies a persona indicated in commoners’s poems back in the Goryeo dynasty in terms of Sigmund Freud’s defense mechanism with a view to understanding the persona’s psychology described in the poems and making modern readers sympathize with dominant emotions in that era as depicted in the literary works. This is one of ways to realizing objectives of preserving and passing down to a next generation values of classical literature suitable for the modern era. As education on classical literature is merely to inculcate knowledge in relation to the literary works it remains simply a pot of knowledge and information. This research, starting from this critical mind, aims to analyze and review ways of leading modern readers to relating to and communicating with on the predominant feelings of that era shared by its authors and readers reflected in the Goryeo poems in terms of defense mechanisms in psychology. Defense mechanisms, one of psychological mechanisms, were initially designed by Sigmund Freud and later organized by his daughter, Anna Freud. It is a psychological mechanism unconsciously activated to defense oneself from negative emotions arising from contrasting human desires and reality. The Goryeo poems depict unconscious psychology reducing and easing negative feelings resulting from anxiety or conflict caused by being unable to achieve desires of a poetic narrator. If you study a mechanism employed in the narrator’s psychology based on Freud’s defense mechanisms and use this as one of methods of understanding literary works it will make it easier to communicate between significance of the era and that of the modern age. The defense mechanisms can be applied to human psychology at all ages and places; thus, it makes it highly likely to communicate between the emotions in the era when the literary works were written and those of the contemporary readers. The research of this kind will be a way to understanding the Goryeo poems from a new perspective.
