영문 초록

Utilising the Slow City approach to achieving sustainable rural development has been gaining prominence in Korea. This study investigates two case study areas, Damyang and Jangheung Slow Cities. Slow City literature was reviewed to derive factors for Slow City success. As examples of a successful Slow City and an unsuccessful one, the absence or presence of Slow City success factors was confirmed for Damyang and Jangheung Slow Cities. The success factors were used to recommend a Slow City activation strategy for each area. The study found that Damyang Slow City should build on the basis of already present success factors and Janghueng Slow City needs to rediscover the essence of the area s sense of place and future development direction.
