초등교사의 실과지도력 향상을 위한 교육대학교 실과교육 운영 방향 및 역할 모색

국문 초록

이 연구는 초등 실과 지도력 향상을 위하여 초등학교의 실과교육 운영 실태를 파악하고 그에 따른 직전교육과 현직교육에서 교육대학교의 적정한 역할을 모색해 보고자 진행한 바, 실과교육 운영 실태조사 결과는 다음과 같다. 초등학교 실과 교수·학습이 실과 교육과정 편성·운영에서 지역화 및 재구성 미비, 교재·교구의 부족과 실습 재료비의 미확보 등으로 실험·실습이 제대로 이루지지 못하고 있는 형편이다. 이러한 조사 결과를 바탕으로 초등교사의 실과지도력 향상을 위한 방안을 다음과 같이 제안한다. 먼저, 직전교육에서 실과 교과교육은 초등 실과 교육과정의 필수 실습 요소를 실제 실습을 통하여 충분히 익히도록 요구하고 있으며, 실과 교육과정의 지역화에 따른 재구성, 교재·교구의 확충과 실습 재료비 확보에 관한 학교회계 예산편성 방법 등이 지도되어져야 한다. 아울러, 현직교육으로 이루어지는 교내 자율장학과 각종 연수기관의 자격연수와 직무연수에서 실과 교과에 대한 연수가 거의 이루어지지 못하고 있으며 실과 지도력 향상을 기대하기는 어렵다. 따라서 교육대학교의 초등교육연수원은 설치 목적에 맞게 교원의 전문적 자질 향상과 현직 교육의 수월성을 추구하기 위해 실험·실습 위주의 다양한 연수기회가 제공되기를 요구하고 있다. 나아가서 초등교육현장과 교육대학교 실과교육과의 유기적인 협력과 실과 교수들의 적극적인 참여는 지역 실과 교육의 활성화에 도움이 될 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is twofold: i) to survey the current states of teaching Elementary Practical Arts with a view to helping elementary school teachers improve their instruction of the subject, and ii) to find out an appropriate role of an education university as a teacher training and in-service training institution. It was found out that elementary school students experiments or practices have not been carried out successfully due to the lack of adopting and localizing the textbook, insufficient teaching materials and/or laboratory apparatuses, and insufficient budget for experiments. Based on this finding, the following can be proposed for the improvement of elementary school teachers classroom instruction. First of all, students at a teacher training university should be well-prepared for the instruction of compulsory content through their sufficient practice and experiments. They should also be taught how to adopt the textbook, how to localize the content, how to plan school accounts for students experiments including the expansion of laboratory facilities or apparatuses and budget for experimental materials, and so on. Secondly, neither autonomous supervising at an individual school, nor in-service training for certification nor other in-service training provides a program for Practical Arts teachers. Thus, the improvement of their classroom teaching can hardly be expected. The Center for In-service Training at the university of education should provide various programs for Elementary Practical Arts teachers in which they can have more chances to do experiments. Such programs will help elementary school teachers improve their specialties and pursue their excellence. Finally, the cooperation of elementary school teachers and professors of Practical Arts at the university of education are required. Their active participation will be a big help to activation of the subject in the local education.
