영아 연령 통합과 영아교사 역할 및 전문성에 대한 유치원 교사의 인식

국문 초록

본 연구는 유아교육과 보육의 통합 논의가 활발히 추진되고 있는 시점에서 유치원에서의 영아 연령 통합과 영아교사 역할 및 전문성에 대한 교사 인식을 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 경기도 소재 공․사립 유치원 교사 217명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시한 결과 첫째, 교사들은 유치원에서의 영아통합에 대 해 찬성보다 반대 인식을 더욱 많이 보였고, 그 이유는 영아-유아 교사의 역할수행 차이와 유치원과 어린이집 각각의 고유한 기능을 살릴 필요가 있기 때문인 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 유치원 교사들은 영아교사 역할로 가장 요구되는 자질을 영아 발달특성 이해라고 인식하였고, 영아교사의 가장 중요한 능력은 영아의 감정 및 정서에 대해 공감하는 능력이며 영아 개별요구에 민감하고 반응적인 태도를 갖추어야 한다고 보았다. 셋째, 유치원 교사들은 영아교사의 자질이 영아 인격형성에 매우 중요한 영향을 미친다고 인식하였으며, 영아교사의 전문성 향상을 위해서는 자격기준의 강화와 전문적 훈련, 전문지식 등이 요구되는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과는 유보통합의 맥락에서 연령통합에 대한 유치원 교사들의 인식과 현장실태를 탐색하게 하고, 영아기 교사역할 및 전문성에 대한 새로운 논의를 이끌어 주는 결과 라 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study was intended to examine teachers' understanding of infant teachers' role and professionalism and integration of infant care with education of kindergarten. To this end, 217 public․ private kindergarten teachers in Gyeonggi province were surveyed. The results were as follows. First, kindergarten teachers showed more dissenting views than assenting views about the integration of infant care with kindergarten. And it was shown that this was because there was a difference in infant teachers-kindergarten teachers' playing a role and kindergarten and daycare center's own respective functions needed to be utilized. Second, it was shown that the most required quality for infant teachers' role was an understanding of infant's development characteristics. And it was presumed that infant teachers should have a sensitive and responsive attitude to infant's individual needs and infant teachers' most important skill was ability to empathize with infant's emotion and affect. Third, kindergarten teachers understood that infant teacher's quality had a very important effect on shaping infant's development. And it was shown that tightening qualification standards, professional training and professional knowledge was required for the purpose of improvement in infant teachers' expertise.
